Many people create apps for various reasons, but one is definitely to make money. The biggest question for many Android app creators is where to sell these applications. Each day the marketplace for smartphone applications get more crowded. This also poses a problem as to which markets are best when it comes to making serious money off apps. The Android market is of course known by any serious android installs creator, but there are other markets and methods of selling these products. One way is on your own website. This way there is no need to share part of the proceeds as is done on the Android Market or with third-party companies. With the Android Market the split is 70%-30%; with other places this may vary. Developers can sell their applications directly using a number of payment options.

Currently, PayPal and Google Checkout are two popular payment options. Android Licenser is also a good way to sell your apps and get the full price for yourself. There is however a monthly fee of $39.95. One of the benefits of Android Licenser is that it has a feature that helps to prevent your app from being pirated. The other big advantage with selling apps on your own website is that you are not restricted to sell only to certain countries. With Android Market, you can only sell to select regions.

The V-Cast App store, the brainchild of Verizon is an alternative to Android market but with much less competition, at least currently. This may change as it becomes more popular. The V-Cast App Store was opened less than 12 months ago so it will take some time to grow. There are plans to support other versions of the Android OS on the V-Cast, but currently only version 2-2 is being supported.

Amazon has also thrown its hat into the android app market with its Amazon App Store. The newly opened Amazon Android store allows the trial run of the apps before purchase through a process known as Test Drive. The fact that the store was opened only in March 2011 means that now is a good time to get in before its overrun by competitors. To sweeten the pot, Amazon is allowing app store customers free access to the very popular Angry Bird Rio game for a specified time.

Finally, the South Korean market has over 10 million Android users and is quickly growing. It may be a good idea to shift your attention towards rapidly growing foreign android markets. This is usually done to bring awareness and promote your product on multiple platforms. Your application has been developed for the mobile app platform, now you’ll want to create a buzz about it on the web platform using micro-sites. This is done by creating a few different micro-sites then creating SEO filled press releases about the product.

When effectively using articles and press releases to promote your product, you aren’t just relying on the mobile platform for a would-be buyer of your products. You can use the web platform in addition to promote your product in the normal way but point them to micro-sites you’ve created. You can begin by writing articles about your application using excellent SEO techniques and create an article marketing campaign for promotion.Making money, even enough to cover the cost of developing and designing apps for the Android OS is important. As such, developers should be constantly on the lookout for new markets to sell their applications. The Amazon store is one market that is likely to keep expanding for a while.
