One of the biggest challenges during moving preparation is definitely packing. Not to mention that it can be very stressful and take up a lot of your precious time if you do not do it properly. Just imagine a situation where you start packing your belongings without any plan and finish up with a pile of things and in a total mess. In order to avoid such a situation, you will need to plan and organize your packing. In all honesty, packing your clothes and personal belongings is not that hard. You can simply use suitcases or small boxes and would finish in no time. But, when it comes to packing for relocation, you will need to move furniture and electronics. And that is where the fun begins. You can’t put your fridge in a box. Or washing machine in a suitcase. For these, you will need a bit different approach.

Step one – get rid of things you do not need

It's important to realize is that it is not recommendable to take all of your belongings with you to a new home. In all honesty, you do not need them all, as there is a big chance you did not use some of them in months or even more. Therefore, you should choose what you are taking with you, and what you are going to sell, donate or simply throw away.

Do not get too emotional while making this decision. What you should do is think about the positive side of it. First, you will save a lot on transportation service, as movers are usually calculating the fee based on the weight of your items. Then, you will earn money by selling some of your old electronics. Finally, you will have an opportunity to renew your electronics. And even if there is no electronic shop near your new home, shopping on the Internet was never easier.

Step two – get necessary packing supplies

Once you have the final list of things you are moving, it is time to get some packing supplies. In order to pack your electronics, you will need:

  • Original packings (if possible)

  • Boxes and crates

  • Air bubble packing

  • Packing foam

  • Packing tape and plastic ties

  • Labels

You can easily find these in the local hardware store. In case you have an electronics shop in your neighborhood, try to get some original packings for your electronics. If they have any spare, there is no reason for them not to give you.

Step three – pack and find the perfect truck

Pay attention to the power cables. Always use a plastic tie to secure these. For electronics with many cables, make sure you label each. This way you’ll know how to connect everything after the move. Fridge, washing machine, and dishwasher must be transported clean and dry. TV, monitor, and other delicate surfaces always wrap with air bubble packing. In case you are doing this for the first time, find some tutorials online that will ease your packing.

It is important to find the truck with a trailer that will fit all your belongings at once. Kentucky Trailer has a lot of choices, and all you need to do is to pick the one that will suit your needs. In case you are not sure about this, always ask your movers to help you choose. After all, they have a lot of experience and will know how to help you.

To pack your electronics is not the easiest thing, that is for sure. But, it also doesn't have to be as complicated as you expect. So, just follow our guide, and no harm will come to you and your precious items.
