Mazda Celebrates 10 Million Vehicles Sold in US
Posted: May 29, 2014
Mazda has reached a significant milestone this year, selling 10 million vehicles in the United States. That is quite an accomplishment, spanning 43 years of selling vehicles in the U.S. alone. Since 1970, Mazda has been selling their vehicles in the United States, and on October 2013 Lauren Carter of Glen Ellyn Illinois purchased the 10-millionth vehicle from Continental Mazda in Naperville, a 2013 Mazda3. As part of the Mazda appreciation for reaching this huge milestone, they replaced Laurens purchase with a brand new 2014 Mazda3.
Lauren Carter is a 26 year old guitar instructor and accounts receivable specialist, and was looking for a sporty car that was fun to drive and offered her plenty of storage. She purchased a 2013 Mazda3 without knowing she had become part of the milestone to be shared with Mazda. Lauren says that she wanted a sporty vehicle that she could easily fit her guitar and amp into the trunk. Comparing the Mazda line to all the others she felt that the choice was easy to pick Mazda. There was no comparison after she compared all the numbers. She did her research and decided the Mazda line was the most reliable and came with all the features and more that she needed.
The CEO and President of Mazda, Jim O'Sullivan, explained that the reason they were able to reach this unique accomplishment was because Mazda continually takes the road less travel when it comes to selling their vehicles. To reach the next ten millions sales will take the efforts of the entire team at Mazda to keep pushing the limits of engineering and to infuse the soul of a sports car into every vehicle produced, says O'Sullivan.
The newest addition to the Mazda line is the 2014 Mazda3. It continues to be a leader in fuel economy, technology and design. Features include Active Driving Display, i-Activsense safety technology, i-Eloop braking system and the impressive 41 MPG on the highway. Mazda continually strives to be a leader in engineering going back to the first car sold in 1970 in the United States. That little rotary powered R100 was an innovative vehicle for that time. Today, Mazda is at the forefront of the industry providing consumers with some of the most impressive sedans, sports cars and SUVs in the world.
Mazda has been producing industry leading sports cars dating back to those early days in the 1970's. The RX-7 was released in 1978 and went on to be one of the most recognized sports vehicles in the day. They were seen on television shows, commercials and movies of the time as one of the premier sports cars to own. The popularity of the RX-7 spawned the birth of the MX-5 in 1989 which broke all records for a two seat sports car, selling over 900,000 and becoming the best-selling vehicle of its kind.
Continuing to be the innovator, Mazda took another step where no other vehicle manufacturer had been before by introducing the Mazda3 in 2004. This unique five door vehicle would go on to be the very first of its kind to offer four wheel disc brakes, leather seats and xenon headlamps in a driving class that was not used to those types of unique features. This is how Mazda continues to live by the creed that they simply must take the road less traveled. By sticking to this creed, they continue to stay ahead of the competition and set records that are impossible for the competition to achieve.
Mazda is the owner auto manufacturer to have produced and sold over two million rotary style engines globally. Mazda has taken forty-three years to reach this amazing accomplishment, but shows no signs of resting on its laurels. The team at Mazda continues to strive to be an innovator while looking back admirably on their past successes. In the United States and Mexico, there are currently over 700 Mazda dealers committed to providing their customers with a unique driving experience that is miles above their competition.
