People in the UK have many different reasons for shipping to Trinidad or shipping to Suriname, which is a country on the North East coast of South America bordered by Guyana, French Guiana, and Brazil. Some people in the UK are manufacturers and exporters who bring wealth to the country by selling their goods overseas. Such a company should be able to tell you what you can and can't take with you, and in many countries you are not allowed to import plants, so no matter how much you love your weeping fig, you will have to leave it behind.

What about your pets? Can you take your cat or your dog with you? And what about your car? Shipping a car can be an expensive process and it may well be better to sell it and buy new when you arrive at the other end. OK, if you own a Maserati you could be forgiven for wanting to keep it, but then again if you do you can probably afford the shipping costs in any case.

Then there is the question of packing. Some people prefer to pack themselves, but it is a lot of work, and you have to remember that your belongings are going a very long way and will have to be loaded on to lorries, off lorries and into warehouses, out of warehouses and on to more lorries, on to a ship, off the ship at the port the other end, on to another lorry, etc., etc. Unless you are an expert, you are far better off letting the shipping company arrange for and carry out the packing so that your goods are secure for the journey. Many of them will be members of the British Association of Removers and will have a team of expert packers who will ensure the safety of your goods.

Much of the foregoing also applies if you have no intention of moving home but are simply shipping goods out to these places as part of your business. They still need to arrive in perfect condition, and they need to arrive on time so that your end customers don't run out of stock of your items.
