The Modi government prepared a bill called The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2018 and introduced it in Parliament, which was passed by the Lok Sabha in December 2018. This bill immediately imposed triple divorce in any form illegal and void, the husband was sentenced to three years' jail. However, the bill passed in the Lok Sabha had to face stringent resistance in the Rajya Sabha, but finally passed in December.
