Monitoring the data centres and building access points with security cameras can represent an advantage to overall security, but in order to use it in a better manner, one needs to know a little bit about security camera terminology albeit there are numerous things/technical jargons which is not possible for a common man to understand.

So, here we will try to understand the concept whereby the camera detects motion in a series of still images.

Firstly, let's try to understand the term "CCD" which stands for "charge-coupled device". A charge-coupled device is a silicon chip with a surface that is divided into light-sensitive pixels. So, when light falls on these pixels, small electric charges are generated. Due to sufficient pixels, we can get a fairly high-resolution image and with sufficient "sensitivity", we can detect motion even in a dim lit room.

Initially, charge-coupled device -CCD was designed as a memory device but now became a good choice for image sensing as it has got ultra-sensitivity to light which captures or detect motion.

Motion Sensors or Motion detection camera recording is actually a function of the surveillance DVR and not the camera which means CCTV Cameras only capture the images but surveillance DVRs are capable enough to record video when motion is detected in any of the cameras.

Now, the question arises how DVRs sense or help in detecting motions. So, the answer is Motion is detected by the DVRs as the changes in the pixels of the images that are sent to the DVR from CCTV security cameras.

Now, let’s understand how to setup Vantage surveillance DVR to motion detection recording.

First Step: Logon to Vantage DVR’s System Menu and then select Record Setup.

Second Step: Switch on the Record Setup screen to select Schedule Setup.

Third Step : On the Schedule Setup screen, use the Plus (+ ) and Minus (-) keys on the DVR’s remote or DVR Device to set all days to "-M-", which means motions detection camera recording and this way it will be enabled.

Fourth Step: Now, lastly push the menu button for 2 -3 times to exit the DVR menu system or push until security cameras are not live on the screen. But DO NOT press the record button on the DVR or remote as it is not necessary to press the same for motion detection.

But user would able to see the result via DVR on screen the images captured by CCTV Cameras installed nearby. Not only this, user would be able to get the alerts when image pixelates due to motion and that detection shows that DVR and Security Cameras are functioning properly and motion sensors are enabled.

This is an important feature and it could be useful for anyone who is installing security camera in their Business Premises or Home as it would alert the user in case of any unusual motion which could work as sign of attention and undesired event can be stopped or prevented through this motion sensor detection.

So, before installing the CCTV Cameras, it is imperative to ensure this functionality which will help you secure your Business or Home in a much better manner.

Conclusion: In this way, we have seen that how Motion Detection Camera Recording System Works and what are the components which are responsible for motion detection plus how to setup the same in the Surveillance DVRs to enable it to sense the motion through CCTV Cameras.
