Tips on Clearing Day 3 & 4 of SSB

Day 3 & 4 of SSB together called as Group Testing Officer Tests or GTO. Both the days are meant to test the physical fitness and leadership quality of candidates at the same time. Team spirit, quick decision making, and fair play are some qualities looked for in the candidates when appearing for days 3 and 4. One must be physically fit and mentally tuned to Join Indian Navy Recruitment 2019 SSB rounds 3 and 4.

Let us have a look at the three most important activities of days 3 and 4

1.GROUP DISCUSSIONConducted on Day 3, this activity is held in two rounds. The first round of GD gives candidates the option to choose anyone from the given three topics. While round 2 has one compulsory topic only. The whole batch is divided into groups of 8-10 candidates.

Tips for Clearing GD:Speak with authority. Pass on the baton to others also.Show coordination with fellow group members.Speak clear and concise.Listen to the points of other group members, and give a follow on that too.Speak points that show your knowledge of the subject.Don’t sound ambiguous.

2. Military Planning ExerciseIn MPE, candidates are again divided into groups. Then a Navy officer presents each group with a sheet of paper, that has a map on it. He explains the strategic situation to all the candidates, ending the briefing by asking for any kinds of doubts. Groups are then left with a writing pad to write a solution according to the map. They are supposed to come up with the best strategic solution to the problem given in the map.

Tips for Scoring Good in MPE:Listen well to the GTO officerNote down every remark or instruction carefullyKeep you calm while trying to make your group members understand why your solution is best in the given scenario.

3. Progressive Group Task Progressive tasks are meant to test the stamina, endurance, and agility of candidates, while also testing them for their leadership quality. In PGT, groups are put to physical tasks. These tasks are made up of obstacles which they have to cross while following certain predefined rules. Candidates are also made to carry a certain amount of weight on their backs while performing the tasks. Other helping materials like a wooden plank, ropes are also provided accordingly.

Tips for PGTListen to the task instruction carefully.Ask for advice from your group members if you need one.Be positive in all situations.Don’t tie any of the two rigid materials together to finish your task.Keep the "Lever-Fulcrum" principle in mind during the whole process.Acknowledge when you are in breach of any rule at the very instant. Don’t even think of cheating or arguing with the GTO officers at any point during the task.Generally, there are three solutions to passing any obstacle during the race. Never let that escape your mind.
