How the Seasons Can Inspire Unique Engagement Ring Designers

As we have argued in a recent piece, nature can be one of the main sources of inspiration for unique engagement ring designers. The natural world is one of endless beauty, where fascinating images appear at nearly every turn, and where the colours rival those of even the greatest painter or masterpiece.

As such, it is not surprising that artists in general, among them unique engagement ring designers, should turn to this medium as a potential well of new and exciting ideas. Some aspects of nature seem to simply lend themselves to being immortalised in the form of a work of art, be it a picture, a poem or, indeed, an item of jewellery, and artists are happy to oblige.

What may be less evident to a layman or woman is that artists can be inspired by any of the four seasons. At first glance, it may seem as though only spring and winter fit the bill, or spring and autumn, but true artists will know how to cull inspiration for their pieces from every season.

For unique engagement ring designers, it is no different. Each season offers a distinct palette of colours, sights and sensations which in turn lead to various types of pieces, each reflecting the feel of the season and the emotion it excites in the designer.

Spring, for instance – arguably the most immediately appealing of all four seasons – brings with it a wealth of limpid, fresh greens and blues, which could inspire a designer to create pieces made out of turquoise, amethyst or emerald. The vivid, lively tones of flowers can also inspire works in ruby or citrine, while the clear and frosty nights may bring about mysterious yet appealing sapphire-and-silver combinations. And of course, natural motifs are some of the most popular shapes in which to have rings made.

Spring, however, is a relatively easy season for unique engagement ring designers to find inspiration in. But what about summer? Many would argue that this is the low point of the year for matters of the mind, as the heat increases and humans find themselves inexorably drawn to the nearest beach. A designer, however, may still find his or her muse in the vivid blue-greens of the sea (which would excite visions of turquoise designs), while the coarse texture of the sand may serve as a creative base for slightly more textured pieces.

Autumn is another season where designers will have no problem in finding inspiration. The red and brown tones which seem to pervade the world during the months leading up to Christmas will no doubt lead most artists to creations of ruby, smoky quartz, and other warm-toned stones with plenty of fire!

Finally, winter is another one of those seasons from which any creative person will draw inspiration. Most people tend to look on the positive side, and will therefore forget the wind and rain which usually dominate this time of year, and remember instead the beautiful landscapes a snowy day can bring about. The white purity of the material will also, no doubt, inspire pieces in diamond and silver, with plenty of crystal-like sparkle to evoke the snowflakes and icicles found during this time of year.

As you can see, then, a true creative will obtain inspiration all year round, regardless of the season.
