Introduction

Management is a core aspect of any organization as it coordinates and organizes the activities and endeavor of people to achieve the objectives of the organization. The paper reviews several journals on real life management in an attempt to derive core functions of management in a business.

Through the structure of the interviews, the article shows how the managers handle different situations involving personnel and the emotional handling strategies they apply. The results from the reports vividly reveal that personnel managers engage in emotional labor. The study done in the article discloses the fact that personnel managers have to find ways of handling their emotions especially when dealing with staff. In conclusion, the author of the article outlines five emotion controlling strategies empathy at a distance, mediator guardian of justice, Leila’s couch, active and passive outsourcing and withdrawal. The report reveals that different managers have different tactics of handling emotional situations.

Lessons learnt

I discovered that every organization is full of interactions therefore it is necessary to manage the emotions that come along with different interactions in the organization. I learned that there were many more strategies that managers can apply when dealing with the emotional strategies of the organization. It is clear that emotional intelligence is a critical quality in management regardless of the type of management. I learned that managers should learn to blend in emotions with work so as to provide reasonable commands and deal with situations appropriately. As such every situation should have a mixture of empathy and decisive action.

I grasped that every organization that partakes business ventures had responsibility for the maintenance of good relations with the society. The management of a company is responsible for coordinating activities that do not infringe on business ethics. I learned that following business ethics is crucial for smooth operations in every organization. These business ethics provide the corporation with guidelines on how to carry out operations that do not interfere adversely with the livelihood of the society. The management of a company is responsible for coordination of all the functions of a company; therefore should make sure that the organization’s operations maintain good ethical standards.

I deduced that the management should develop effective ploys to help it come up with systematic and coordinated operations that build the image of the company.

I discovered that the growth of a company could stagnate; therefore, it is important to come up with new strategies and styles of operation. The six articles provide a brief summary of real life situation in businesses that express the importance of management in an organization. The articles illustrate several aspects of management that are necessary for the productivity of the organization. These aspects include discipline, emotional intelligence, desire to succeed and creativity. These components help the management of an organization to coordinate effectively and control the operations of a business.
