The Destruction of Aad (The Story of Prophet Hud)

The most familiar and great scholar of the 14th century, Ibne Kathir reports that Hud was the descendant of Prophet Noah (AS).

Likewise his forefathers, Hud also was sent by Allah (SWT) to preach the Oneness of God towards his people known as Aad. Indeed, they were indulged in their arrogance in such a way that they were not ready to leave the idol worshiping. Prophet Hud told if they did not withdraw the idol worshiping, certainly they would ready to face the worst storm which would ruin them bitter. Prophet Hud also alerted them the Day of Resurrection when they would be answerable to Allah (SWT) that what they had done their deeds on the earth. They totally denied the Final Day as they believed that life is just for one time. They also argued that how the bones could be recollected even into complex form after merging into the soil. They said, "We just have the life on the earth but nothing, so we are created and die! We are not supposed to be resurrected! Hud is just only a man who lies about the man of God, however, we are not ready to believe in his lessons whatever he says".

They also said, "O Hud! We know your craziness! Indeed you are harmed by our idols because you insult them.

Eventually, Prophet Hud (AS) renounced his people and turned to Allah (SWT) for the final decision between him and them.

So, Allah (SWT) sent a black cloud and the Aad thought that cloud filled with rain. Suddenly, a cool breeze blew which remove the hotness of day. They left their homes in happiness and gathered under the open sky. But, instead of getting blessing they faced the harsh storm which continued seven nights and eight days. Their tall towers crushed into dust and their skins disjointed from their bodies. After stopping the storm they were found in the reversed mouth and as if they were hollow trunks of date palms.

Thus, Allah (SWT) made them the signs for coming generations so that they might get the lessons. However, one thing is obvious that Allah (SWT) forgives all the sins even equal to the particles of sand except Shirk (associating something else with God). Certainly, Shirk is unpardoned sin and man should avoid those activities which directly or indirectly involved. In fact, Satan does not indulge man into Shirk directly but puts him in such deeds which lead to Shirk.
