Babylonians are generally been credited with the birth of astrology. Their charts on astrological enabled them for predicting the seasons and certain celestial events recurrence. So in the beginning and more than a 2, 000 years, astronomy and astrology were the same science. In the early 4th century B.C., Babylonian astrology was been introduced to the Greeks and through the studies of Aristotle, Plato and others, astrology came to be regarded as a high form of science. Romans soon embraced it and it is now that we all use the names given by the Romans and later the Arabs spread it across the world. Indian Guru believes that, while earliest astrology was used for bringing a sense of order and peace out of apparent chaos, it was soon utilized for predicting weather patterns, mainly for agricultural purposes. It was broadened eventually then to include natural disaster and war, and other events forecast in the human course of the affair.Simplified Explanation of Zodiac Signs by Indian GuruIndian Guru, Pt. B.K. Shastri Ji, explains the origin and basis behind the word Zodiac. The term 'Zodiac' was derived from the word Greek meaning "circle of animals", and is believed to have been formed and came into existent in ancient Egypt and later Babylonians adopting it. Early astrologers knew that it took 12 cycles of lunar, i.e. months for the sun to resume back to its original position. They gradually identified 12 constellations which they observed were linked to the season progresses and assigned the names of certain animals and persons, for example, in Babylonia, the rainy season was found to occur when the Sun was in a specific constellation which was then named the water bearer, Aquarius.

Each of these four groups is in its own quadrant, or group of houses, on a circle. The division of these 12 houses is based on a daily rotation of Earth and related to circumstances such as finances, relationships, travel, etc. The 12 division of the zodiac signs, on the other hand, is based on the year-long rotation of the earth around the Sun. This relates to character traits and areas of life, e.g. Mercury stands for speech and writing, Venus for affection, etc. Each planet is associated with two signs, and Moon and Sun with one each. Approximately around 2000 B.C., the astrologers in Babylonia believed that the Moon, Sun, and five planets are known at that time (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, and Venus) possessed distinct powers. For example, Mars appeared to be red and was associated with war and aggression.

Pandit Ji, the best Indian Guru, feels a horoscope is a map of a zodiacal circle with Earth placed at the center. Top of the circle represents the Sun at its highest point during the day and at the left and right of that are the western and eastern horizons. Your horoscope charts reveal the Sun, Moon, stars, and planets position at a specific place and time of your choosing, e.g., the time, date and location of your birth. Astrologers don't use clock time. Rather, measuring it as sidereal time, as measured from the position of Sun at the spring equinox.

Once the time and date are selected and calculated as time and the location is plotted and known, the astrologer consults an astronomical table, the ephemeris, where listings of Sun, Moon, planets and constellations locations are placed at any given time to build the chart. While all this used to be exacting and tedious, computer programs have made calculation easier now. The science of constructing a chart, however, is only the initial first step. Proper chart interpretation is both an art and science. If properly done, it reveals insights to personality and current trends and should only be trusted to an accredited and highly trained astrologer.

Interest in astrology has always remained throughout all these years, occasionally falling out of favor but always rebounding. With practitioners, today in the nearly most country, the popularity of astrology is getting stronger than ever. While some regard astrology as superstitious and without having any scientific basis. There are others who acknowledge it as the gravitational forces exerted on our planets by the Moon and Sun. Still, some maintain that astrology can provide an in-depth understanding of events and us.

An ancient science or art, astrology keeps records of all the past events. Its influence reaches back to the time when Gods are said to have talked and walked with men. It was practiced and studied by all great nations and predates the sacred writings of nearly all philosophies and religions. Astrology supporters extended from Copernicus to Plato to Sir Isaac Newton to Flam stead, the great astronomer who helped in building the Greenwich Observatory to the first former Lady Nancy Reagan.

Despite the fact that scientist today are dealing with cosmic ray and its influence upon Earth and people, they widely hold divergent views on astrology validity. Opinions range from abrupt dismissal to those who acknowledge due to its certain advantages and merit. One thing is certain that few topics do not stimulate much debate as like astrology. The challenges faced by people today are greater than before or at any other time in the history of mankind, and solutions available are difficult to obtain. Astrologers recognize these conditions and some even participate in helping others to meet challenges in their life successfully. All this is made possible with the help of astrology.
