As the world is taking strides towards the technological advancements in all the fields, the field of education is also moving towards the technologically driven techniques. Such is the case with blended learning. The concept is not new, but the hype attached to the concept is rather novel. The concept was first introduced in the early 1960s but the formal introduction did not take place until the late 1990s.

The term "Blended Learning" was considered to be very vague initially as it covered diverse technologies like websites, media and different kinds of devices including the laptops, kindles, computers and etc. along with pedagogical methods of teaching. It was only in 2006, that the terminology gained a compact definition which stated: "blended learning systems combine face-to-face instructions along with computer-mediated instructions". This concept, later on, progressed to a great extent. Now, the combination of face-to-face teaching along with online learning can be considered as blended learning. This approach has been adopted by the teachers around the world because of the effectiveness of the approach and the feasibility it provides to the teachers and the students at the same time. Some of the perks of blended learning are discussed below.

Saves Time of Teachers and Students

It is not a secret that making material for the classrooms consumed a lot of time of the teachers. Earlier, the teachers spent hours copying information from the different sources, collecting it and etc. now, they have the feasibility of uploading it on a single platform. Also, the students can get access to all the research papers, additional material and such other things by clicking on one single link rather than taking up the hassle of searching and reading several books in the library.

Saves Tons of Money

Ever wondered how much money do people spend on getting their books and handouts photocopied? Now with blended learning, people can get access to the soft copy of the books and the handouts. They can save loads and loads of money by simply reading the books online rather than spending a fortune on the books which they are going to read for only once. This also allows people to edit their notes without worrying about wasting so much money on the drafts.

Access to the Material

Students do not have to worry about the availability of the material. The can access their books or notes while they are out and about! Irrespective of the time, circumstances and the places. E-learning has made learning easy and accessible to everyone.

Practicing For Exams

It is understandable that teachers and students get bored with monotonous teaching methods. There should always be a thrill in the things you are doing, even if it concerns practicing your exams. Now you can access the standardized online test that is available on the educational platforms. These tests are uploaded on the internet to give the students a little more control over the situation which may include the feasibility of time, accessibility from around the globe and as many repetitions as needed.

Making Communication Effective

There are several online learning and practicing platforms that give access to diverse and healthy communicative sessions. These platforms allow students to communicate either by writing a message of communicating through a video call. Therefore, it has become a prevalent exercise for the tutors to upload the assignments, inform about the due dates, addressing questions over the internet and such other things as soon as possible. Without waiting for the new school day to cater to the needs of the students. Also, these online portals and platforms can help the introvert students to learn more easily as they are too shy sometimes to raise their questions, face to face. Now they can ask the questions over the internet without worrying about being judged or getting an adverse remark.

Group Works

There are many instances when people working in groups do not play their part because they could not collaborate and all the burden falls onto the shoulders of one person. The digital generation of projects can eradicate this problem entirely. The online execution of group projects can enable students to schedule the task as per their feasibility. Even if they cannot synchronize with each other, they have the opportunity of working on their parts on their own pace. Also, in this way, the teachers can keep a track of the effort put in by each student as they can monitor who is working more and who is working less.

To sum it all up, the approach of blended learning has helped improve the learning and teaching standards to a great extent by saving up money, time and making the learning process fun for students.
