Common Problems after Wearing a New Denture
Posted: Apr 26, 2019
Dentures are the artificial teeth that people need when they lack their natural teeth. Old people generally use dentures because with the time the teeth turn fragile, or they lose the teeth. Not only the old people, but some young people can also lose their teeth by accident. The dentures are made out of porcelain or some other materials, and they give the perfect replacement of teeth.
Dentures are mainly two types like full dentures and partial dentures. While trying dentures for the first time, people may feel some discomforts around their teeth. It can be excruciating for some times. However, it is normal for people who are doing it for the first time. Here are some most common problems that people face when trying dentures for the first time.
Gum Irritation
A loose denture can scratch the gums that can cause some pain. It can also cause sore mouth which can be very uncomfortable. Swollen gums can also become easily infected. It is best to check if the gum is turning red or getting a white plaque. Some people also have all on 4 dental implants. If such a problem occurs, it is best to remove the dentures. Try to wash mouth with a salt-water solution. It can reduce pain.
Jaw Joint Change
If the dentures do not fit properly in the mouth, it can change the way someone bites and that can change the jaw joint. This problem not only affects someone’s teeth; it can also result in pain in the neck, headaches, facial difficulty, and joint pain. This problem is severing, and it can affect the day to day activity. To stop this problem, it is best that one should talk with the dentist at the very first and go through with several dentures trials so that they get a complete fit denture and do not have to go through such problems.
Eating Problem
A denture fitted poorly can cause a problem while eating. Some people eat food that is easy to chew to rid of this pain. This leads them to avoid some vital food element that is necessary for health. They avoid eating healthy food that has firm texture or fibrous such as nuts, vegetables, seeds, and meat. However doing this cannot be a permanent solution and continuing the practice can lead to malnutrition, weight loss, and an eating disorder. If such a problem occurs it is best to consult with the dentist and get a new denture; otherwise using adhesive can help. A dental adhesive can help to make dentures stay in the place, and it also feels more secure. So one can chew comfortably and eat all the nutritious food.
Jaw Bone Atrophy
Another problem that is related to dentures is Jaw bone atrophy. This problem is serious because the other bones in the body can form from new bone tissue whereas the jaw bone cannot. Always wearing and removing dentures can cause this problem. A regular appointment with the dentist can solve the problems.
Those are some common problems that people face while wearing the denture for the first time. However, with proper care and regular appointment with dentist one can ward off the issues.
