Semester Reflection

I learned a lot from this course. When starting the semester, I believed in myself and knew that I was set to achieve a lot from the course. When starting the semester I had trouble in completing my English assignments in relation to grammar. However, with the guidance from the instructor, I was able to organize my thoughts and also comprehend all through the semester so that I can achieve everything I planned. The course helped to adjust to campus life and how to conduct my life when in the campus so as to successful complete my education and achieve greater success.

A significant thing that I learned during this course was how to relate with other people. Before the start of the course, I was a very shy person and preferred staying on my own so as to avoid interacting with other people. I always felt bad about my personality and never had many friends. However, this course helped me with making connections with other people, staff, the campus services and the faculty. There is a lot I learned about campus expectations, career and life planning test taking, study skills, and many other things that will help me during my time in the campus.

Study skills were most important during the semester, and this is important information that I am prepared to use even in other courses. Having excellent study skills will help me to achieve my goals in education because I am able to know how to and plan to study. Therefore, I am able to plan my time and also determine the most appropriate time to do my studies. The course helped me improve my study skills through learning how to create an appropriate learning environment in a tidy surface, limited noise, and comfortable setting. I also learned that in order to ensure that I have a good learning environment; I have to avoid any form of unnecessary distraction.

When studying, it is necessary to ensure that the radio and TV are off, and if I need background noise, it is much better to have classical music. Something that I am most likely to remember and always ensure that I use it is developing a schedule. I understand that in order to manage my education, I have to create a schedule for assignments, classes, and other important dates. In my schedule, I will always ensure I set aside some time for studying and doing project work. It is an important strategy that I am sure I will use to help me avoid scrambling to complete assignment and projects during the last minute.

In order to ensure that I progressed in the course, I ensured that I participated in all class work and attended class on time. Class participation was important, and I learned more from students from different background with mine. I improved my listening and communication skills during the course as a result of participating in discussions with other students and also through asking questions. These are skills that will be extremely helpful to me during my time in the campus where I will be able to engage easily in class discussions with courage and no fear. In general, this course has been of great help in preparing me to succeed in college.
