Waste water treatment chemicals are used to eliminate the impurities in the water and make it safe for disposal or reuse. Here is the process of using water treatment chemicals.

Water scarcity is the dangerous threat to the developed and developing countries all around the world. It is found that, about 1.1 billion people around the world suffer from water scarcity. In order to make the world better for all humans present and a livable place for future generations it is important to save water. Even if the industries want to release their effluents into lakes, rivers or sea, the wastewater has to be treated before it is released. Before water becomes a luxury, humans have to come up with a plan to solve this problem. One such solution is the process of wastewater treatment chemicals.

In the chemical process in treating the wastewater, there are many important categories of chemicals used like pH neutralizers, coagulants, anti foaming agents and flocculants.

  • Neutralization: The main step in the process of wastewater treatment of chemicals is the neutralization. The effluent from the industries can be either too acidic or basic. Both are harmful for wildlife and aquatic living beings. So, it is necessary to neutralize the effluent with pH neutralizers. The wastewater is first treated with NaOH in case of acidic and Sulphuric acid in case of basic in a controlled manner in a neutralization system. The optimum pH must be maintained around 6.7 to 8.3.

  • Coagulation: The waste water contains dissolved contaminants that might cause serious damage to humans and the ecosystem. The dissolved metals are removed by the process of precipitation. But the water will have negative surface charges that might not be precipitated. It is important to remove these negative charges with the help of a positively charged coagulant. The coagulant removes the negative charge from the groups which can be easily removed later.

  • Flocculation: The freely moving charges from the result of coagulation can be removed with the help of flocculants. The flocculants act against the charges and makes the charged particles to sediment for an easy removal. Thus, coagulants and flocculants work together in removing the minute suspended contaminants in the waste water.

  • Anti- Foaming and air flotation: Some contaminants might have foaming properties with other substances within the waste water. This causes serious environmental issues when the water is released to water bodies. There are many anti-foaming agents in the form of insoluble oils, silicones and alcohols which forms a thin layer over the foams and destroys them.

These insoluble anti- foaming agents along with the contaminants in the waste water in the form of oil, grease and fat can be removed by air flotation method. Here micron size air bubbles are created with the help of adding specific mixtures of chemicals at a controlled pressure environment. These air bubbles take away the contaminant particles which are later eliminated using a skimming device.

The water after all the above process is sent to secondary treatment to eliminate the organic impurities with the help of microorganisms. It is important to analyze the contaminants in the water with the help of chemicals supplied by Water Treatment Chemicals Suppliers in India. They can help with offering the most beneficial and effective Water Treatment Chemicals. It is important to meet the standard measures before releasing the effluents as well us to make the environment better for all living beings in the world.
