The journey of YK Sabharwal was not at all easy as he started his career as an advocate in the year 1969. From then, he has served at various positions like an advocate for Delhi Administration, Additional Standing Counsel, Counsel to Central Government, Additional Judge and then finally the Chief Justice of India.

YK Sabharwal, the thirty-sixth Chief Justice of India has worked enormously for the betterment of people, legal system and above all for the development of the country. He has served the legal system all his life, regardless of numerous allegations, controversies that came up in the path of his major judgments. His judgements have always raised many eyebrows but when it comes to the application of the same, valid and fruitful changes have been observed all over.

Before being appointed as the Chief Justice of India, YK Sabharwal was serving as the senior most judge of Supreme Court of India.

During his career, he has given various judgments which resulted in a major change not only for the people but for the country as well. Some of the prominent ones are listed below –

  • Dissolution of Bihar Assembly for fresh elections in 2005
  • Refusal of granting any kind of relief for the Delhi Sealing Drive in the year of 2006
  • Made the fundamental rights challengeable for the citizens of the country those were guaranteed under article 14, 19, 20 and 21.

Though he has given various judgments but at the same time, a number of allegations were put forward along with political pressure. But despite allegations and pressure, YK Sabharwal never step back and worked diligently for the country with all his heart and soul. His judgments are now successfully making so many changes for people at large. Further, the country, on the whole, is getting benefit from the same.
