10 Resume Writing Tips that will help You get Hired
Posted: May 20, 2019
As per rules, a Professional resume will always help you get hired. If you really want to come into the eyes of the hiring manager then cover your resume with relevant information and make it beautiful.
We’ll have a look at 10 Tips that will help you get hired.
1. Don’t put everything on resume-:
You should not mention every work experience you’ve ever had listed on it. Think about your present experience from 10 – 12 years not about your history. For each resume you build, you’ll want to highlight only the accomplishments and skills that are most relevant to the job at hand.
2. Keep a master list of all jobs-:
Since you’ll be swapping different information in and out depending on the job you’re applying to, keep a resume master list on your computer where you keep any information you’ve ever had on a resume: old positions, bullet points tailored for different applications, special projects that only sometimes make sense to include. Then, when you’re building a resume, it’ll be a matter of cutting and pasting relevant information together.
3. Put the best stuff "Above the Fold"-:
Above the fold means what you see on the front half of a folded newspaper but basically, it’s your first impression of a document. A hiring manager is going to see the first section so make sure you should put your best and most relevant experience first.
4. Ditch the Objective Statement-:
Your resume should have an objective section that makes sense when you’re making a huge career change and your experience should match up with the position you’re applying to.
5. Keep it Chronological-:
There are several ways of describing your information on a resume but the good old reverse chronological is still your best bet.
6. Keep it simple-:
We’ll think about getting creative to make your resume stand out from competitors. But the most important thing is to keep it simple. To make it simple use a basic but modern font, like Helvetica, Arial, or Century Gothic. Build your resume simple by using a font size between 10 to 12 and leave enough amount of white space on the page so that the hiring manager can easily read and understand your resume. you can use a different font or typeface for your name, your resume headers, and the companies you’ve worked for but make sure you keep it simple and consistent. your main focus should be to make your resume readable for the manager.
7. Consider an Online Supplement-:
Don’t cover your resume with everything, just mention relevant information on your resume. putting irrelevant information can put your resume in the trash. Make sure you cover your resume with the most important thing and include a link to your personal website, where you can dive more into what makes you the ideal candidate.
8. Make Your Contact Info Prominent-:
There is no need to mention your address on your resume but you must mention a phone number and a professional email address (not your work address!) as well as other places to ensure that the hiring manager can easily find you on the web, like your LinkedIn profile and Twitter handle.
9. Get Help From a Professional-:
Design skills are just to make your resume beautiful. So, you must seek a professional resume designer help and work with him to make your resume stunning. This is the most important thing when you are searching for a job.
10. Keep it recent, Keep it Relevant-:
Do not include the history of experience on your resume. you should only mention the most recent experience and only include the experience relevant to the position to which you are applying.
