There is no better way to start your day than with a stack of pillowy, sweet (or savoury!) pancakes, towering high with all your favourite trimmings. We’ve gathered some of the best mounds around town to take the guess work out of your next brunch date.

Pancakes at Carillon, Perth

Pancakes at Carillon in the city, a classic favourite, has a menu so large it’s almost difficult to choose from. You can keep things simple with their short stack of two buttermilk pancakes with cream or opt for a tropical twist with their passion mango stack, featuring two buttermilk pancakes smothered in homemade passionfruit sauce, toasted coconut flakes, whipped cream and ice cream. For those who prefer a savoury stack, Pancakes at Carillon has a range of morish breakfast toppings including bacon, eggs, mushroom and hash browns.

Café Elixir, Wanneroo

Nestled in the northern suburbs of Perth, Café Elixir is always a hive of activity, and for good reason too. Their enormous, fluffy pancakes always keep customers coming back for more. While their pancake menu changes from time to time, at the moment they have a rich red velvet option, topped with a generous dollop of lemon vanilla whipped cream cheese, drizzled with a hot berry sauce. For the chocoholics, Elixir offers a malt-teaser stack served with choc chips, malted chocolate sauce, Maltesers and chocolate wafer sticks. There is also a gluten free option available.

The ‘Pear’fect Pantry, Wembley

A hidden gem along Herdsman Parade, The ‘Pear’fect Pantry is ‘pear’fect for those who want all of the pancake and none of the guilt. They serve a vegan fruit and yoghurt stack, piled high with plant-based pancakes, fresh strawberries and luscious vegan yoghurt. Their menu changes often, so be sure to pop in and find out what scrumptious concoction they’ll be whipping up next!

Atlas Food + Coffee, West Perth

For those who like their pancakes served with a little something different, Atlas Food and Coffee will not disappoint. Almost too pretty to eat, their buttermilk hotcakes are lovingly served with Canadian maple syrup, strawberries, matcha ice cream, almonds and shaved white chocolate. It really is a piece of art on a plate.

Dark Horse Espresso, Victoria Park

Dubbed on their Instagram as ‘The Eighth Wonder of the World’, Dark Horse Espresso’s Boston Cream Pancakes are a must add to your bucket list. Featuring a grand stack of three pancakes sandwiched with layers of thick, luscious house-made vanilla custard, drizzled with a lavish chocolate glaze and mixed berry compote, topped with crushed peanuts, biscuit crumble and icing sugar, this dish is a true mouthful indeed.

Ootong & Lincoln, Fremantle

For all the foodies out there who like their pancakes with a little bit of spice, Ootong & Lincoln are serving up sweet and tangy chocolate chai pancakes. This lovingly made stack features rich chai flavoured pancakes, chocolate soil, dreamy whipped vanilla bean mascarpone and cherry syrup. Don’t just take our word for it, head on down to Fremantle and taste the magic for yourself.

Mary Street Bakery, Various Locations

The iconic Mary Street Bakery now has five outlets all across Perth, meaning there is sure to be one near you. While their menu differs between locations, both their Leederville and Highgate stores have a savoury pancake dish that will turn even the sweetest of teeth. Their buttermilk stack is loaded with fried chicken, peanuts, maple syrup, chilli and a fried egg – a match made in foodie heaven

Little Raw Deli, Carlisle

While the Little Raw Deli prides itself on being vegan and gluten free, their rich pancakes are so decadent and flavoursome you won’t even notice they are sans dairy. Available exclusively on Saturdays, their snickers pancakes have become Insta-famous for a reason. They feature a stack of three pillowy buckwheat and banana pancakes topped with raw snickers pieces, caramel and peanut sauces, your choice of ice cream, raw chocolate sauce and crushed peanuts. They also have an irresistible Ferrero option, starring house made Nutella sauce and Ferrero balls, roasted hazelnuts and balsamic strawberry jam.
