The New 2020 Nissan Juke Testing Car Spotted
Posted: Jun 07, 2019
The Nissan Juke 2019 models have been a tremendous success here in Australia, and that’s likely to continue for some time to come. However, Nissan isn’t a car manufacturer that’s known for sitting on its laurels, and a new Nissan Juke is now in the testing stage. This test car decked out in bulky black camo livery was recently spotted out in the wild, let’s take a closer look at what we know about this new car.
Spotted Out in the Wild
The new 2020 Nissan Juke was spotted out on the roads of Southern Europe undergoing some warm weather testing. The first generation car was initially a polarising design, but over time it won many of its detractors over. The camo used to cover the new Juke was fairly effective, but there are some elements of the design visible to make some educated guesses.
Attention Grabbing Lines
This is the 2nd generation Nissan Juke, and it looks to be a bit of a departure style wise from the current generation models. Despite the camo used to disguise the lines, it looks like this release may be even more modern looking than the Juke that we’ve become used to in recent years. There seems to be a split headlight configuration up at the front to handle the rumoured two tier headlight clusters. It looks like the disguised rear door handles, and prominent wheel arches are here to stay.
At the Front and Rear End
Up at the front end, we can see that the signature V-motion grille seems to be in place. The strip of driving lights visible at each end of this grille appears to be thinner with a less bulbous configuration. This may indicate the presence of LEDs fitted to this particular testing model. At the rear of the Juke, we can see that the taillights are no longer stacked up like a stick and they are nestled partially inside the tailgate area.
Going Under the Skin
The new Nissan Juke will be underpinned by the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi CMF-B platform. This joint venture has already been used as the chassis for the latest version of the Renault Clio. This drivetrain is interesting because there is ample room for petrol, diesel and electric power options. So, it’s likely that we will see some type of electrified Nissan Juke at some point during the 2nd generation life cycle.
The State of Juke Sales
The Nissan Juke has been a popular choice amongst car buyers with 68,773 sold last year. Sales peaked back in 2013 when the Japanese car manufacturer sold 106,411 units during the course of the year. Here in Australia, 635 Nissan Jukes were sold in 2018, which is down from 1,299 sold in 2017. The sales of the Juke have been eclipsed in recent years by the Nissan Qashqai which seems to have caught the Aussie car buyers attention.
