In many countries across the world, the month of December marks the beginning of winter season. This time of the year is characterised by relatively pleasant daytime temperatures in Saudi Arabia as compared to temperatures at night. However, the climate in this part of the world is extremely pleasant for pilgrims who arrive in the holy city of Makkah from countries of Northern Europe. This makes it the best time for pilgrims across the world to perform their Umrah during this time of the year. This Islamic pilgrimage is also called the 'lesser pilgrimage' or the 'minor pilgrimage'.

An Umrah in December gives Muslims the chance to perform their lesser pilgrimage in the presence of a pleasant climate. As many of the Muslims living in non-Islamic countries have their holidays in December, particularly in the last week of the month, they can also take their family members along with them to perform Umrah. In order to get the best deals on Umrah for this time of the year, they can book their desired package with the preferred tour operator several months in advance. Before going ahead with their bookings, they must also plan their date of departure and the duration of stay in Makkah very carefully.

December brings great respite for the entire population of Saudi Arabia, as the country gets to experience a milder climate as compared to the high temperatures of summers. This would also be beneficial for pilgrims arriving from other countries of the world as they would find it easier to perform all their rituals of Umrah in the presence of such a climate. It also serves as a great motivation for millions of Muslims living around the world, as they are assured that their journey to the holy city during this time of the year would be extremely pleasant. They can also have a memorable stay in Makkah after their arrival in the holy city during this month.

Most of the educational institutions and offices in non-Islamic countries are closed for an entire week for Christmas and New Year celebrations in the month of December. This can be a blessing for Muslims living in those countries as they can visit Makkah during this time of the year and fulfil their dream of performing Umrah. Muslims residing in such countries can also take other members of the family along with them. If they have children accompanying them, it would be a great opportunity to introduce them to the pilgrimage of Umrah and all the rituals associated with it.

Considering the increasing popularity of December packages among Muslims for performing their Umrah, the tour operators often come up with excellent discounts on bookings for this month. In addition to all the excellent deals, the pilgrims also get the opportunity to stay in one of the elegant hotels of Makkah located close to Masjid al-Haram. Their stay in the holy city would be a memorable experience with the modern facilities that are offered for guests in such hotels. Some of them also give their guests the chance to savour the clear view of Kaaba from their room or suite.
