Laser Engraving Machines are used to engrave or mark an object using laser beam. They are used in a wide number of industrial applications for decorative marking on a variety of surfaces including metal, plastic, Marble, Glass, Wood, etc. Proper maintenance is very important to ensure optimum performance from the Laser Engraving Machines. Moreover, it is also a way by which the life and performance of the machines can be improved. Here are some tips for Maintaining The Laser Engraving Machines:

How To Maintain Laser Engraving Machine:

• Lubricate the guide rail- The dust and smoke accumulated in the engraving machine through the period of usage can harm the guide rail. Hence, it is important to clean and lubricate it on timely basis. Turn off the power as well asand the engraving machine to clean it. After cleaning, it’s time to drop lubricating oil in the guide rail. Move the slide rod to ensure that the oil comes out of it. Once the lubrication is done, carefully fix all the screws right for installing the guide rail. Also, fix the slide rod and belt, install the lens, and adjust the X light destination;
• Clean The Reflector and the Focusing Mirror- The dust adhering to the surface of the reflector and the mirror over a period cannot only effect the machine operation but also the quality and precision of engraving. The cleaning of the Reflector and the Focusing Mirror can be done with the help of the cotton swab or Soft cloth using mild household solvent like Isopropyl alcohol;
• Clean the Bearing system- The Bearing System should be inspected and cleaned on regular basis. The cleaning of the bearing tracks can be done with the help isopropyl alcohol or similar mild solvent using cotton swab or soft cloth. There are several bearings in the Laser Engraving Machines and to ensure good engraving results, they need to be cleaned and oiled on regular basis;
• Adjusting The Synchronous Belt- The Laser Engraving Machines have synchronous belts, which need to be perfectly adjusted for precision and accurate engraving. A loose belt would result in the doubling of images while a tight belt would result in the abrasion or wearing of the belt. Hence, the right adjustment of the synchronous belt is very important to prevent the doubling of images and the noise during the engraving operation;

  Moreover, the auto focus used for focusing should also be periodically cleaned. The auto focus mechanism is mounted on the back of the carriage for holding the focus lens. The optical strip and encoder located under the protective cover of X-beam assembly offer precise positioning of the carriage on X-axis. Hence, the X beam cover should be removed to clean them with soft cotton cloth and isopropyl alcohol. Furthermore, to increase the life of the laser tube, vinegar should be put inside the water cycle used as cooling system.
