There are two kinds of diabetes: type 1 and type 2

Diabetes results from unregulated blood sugar levels. The pancreas creates insulin. When it stops, or cannot make it, you get diabetes.

But how does that happen?

Diabetes cause#1: Too many refined, GMO (rice) sugars and flour (noodles, bread, pasta etc.). Your immune system doesn’t know how to handle them, and it gets confused.

What does insulin do?

Insulin is a hormone that is broken down and transported to the cells to be used as energy. It is released by the pancreas to regulate blood sugar levels. It also helps with the storage of sugar (glucose) and fats. People with diabetes don’t respond to insulin properly. This causes high unregulated blood sugar, it is very dangerous!

The difference between type 1 and 2:

Type 1 diabetes: Usually develops at a younger age, usually before 20. Some doctors say it’s an autoimmune disease. It’s when the immune system attacks the cells that produce insulin in the pancreas. This also eventually damages the pancreas until it can’t create insulin. This is the bad diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes: The most common form of diabetes. If someone says they have diabetes, it’s probably type 2. Usually, people over 40 get this type of diabetes, especially overweight people. This type of diabetes is caused by insulin resistance. This means when insulin is released into your body, your body doesn’t accept it, doesn’t respond to it. This type of diabetes is caused by high blood sugar. The body produces more and more insulin and is good for a period of time, but eventually, insulin receptors give up and don’t work anymore. Diabetes can affect almost everything in the body, including energy, digestion, weight, vision and more.

The cause of diabetes:

  1. Bad diet
  2. Eating too many refined carbs, sugar etc.
  3. Being overweight
  4. High levels of inflammation
  5. Not exercising enough
  6. Diabetes in the family (it’s hereditary)
  7. High blood pressure
  8. Heavy metal toxicity

Teacher! This is so scary! I don’t want my kids to get diabetes! What should I do!

I’m glad you asked. If you know anyone with diabetes, it is reversible. If not reversible, it is possible to maintain without the doctor.

Some foods affect blood sugar levels and cause inflammation. They confuse your immune system. So, these foods must be removed immediately.

Refined sugar (any any sugar): This makes blood sugar shoot up! The worst are pop and sodas. Even honey and maple syrup should be eaten less. The best thing is to eat more stevia or xylitol if you want something sweet!

Grains: Rice, flour, wheat have large amounts of carbohydrates. The body turns this into glucose (sugar) which causes blood sugar to shoot up. Scary! So, no grains.

Milk from cows:Cow’s milk contains casein. The immune system responds to this, and can start attacking your body. You don’t want your immune system to have a response, so casein should be avoided. So what can you do? Milk and cheese from goats and sheep doesn’t cause the immune system to go crazy.

Others: Bad oils, GMO foods should also be avoided.

Foods to eat more (if you know someone with diabetes)

Foods high in fibre. These can help slow down absorption of glucose, regulate (control) blood sugar levels and help get rid of toxins. Eat at least 30 grams of fibre per day. (what foods contain fibre???)

Foods high in chromium: This nutrient regulates normal carbohydrate metabolism?? and can help your body balance blood glucose levels. Broccoli is very high in chromium. Also green beans, and grass-fed beef.

Foods with lots of magnesium: Magnesium helps regulate blood sugar levels and helps glucose metabolism. Spinach, chard, pumpkin seeds, almonds, coconut yogurt and black beans improve type 2 diabetes symptoms.

Healthy fats: Coconut, avocado and grass-fed butter can help regulate blood sugar levels, and gives you lots of energy. Wait a minute! Isn’t there a diet that where you get energy from fats, not glucose?? What’s it called again?

Clean proteins, foods and less (or no) carbs. All carbs become glucose in your body. It is better to get your energy from…….?

Organic, non-GMO everything: Only put the best, healthiest, cleanest food in your body to not get sick.

What is prediatetes (n)?

A prediabetic (adj) person has higher blood sugar, but not high enough to be diabetic (adj). The ways to treat or reverse prediabetes is almost the same as for people that have diabetes. Also some useful tips:

Organic apple cider vinegar: It lowers blood sugar levels.

Cinnamon: Famous in Chinese medicine, cinnamon can reduce blood sugar and improve insulin acceptance by the body. There have been medical reports that show cinnamon can reverse diabetes (or at least prediabetes)

Coenzyme Q10: powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation, like from prediabetes. Oxidation is a key factor in prediabetes and diabetes.
