Websites are divided into two main categories and that is Static website and Dynamic website. Both are implemented differently. If you are a person who has a website already or, if you are planning to develop or build a website in near future, then it is important and beneficial for you to understand the difference between these two, so you can be confident positively that you are using the right technology and not wasting your valuable time.

Static websites use what is considered the first generation of web technology and this is HTML. The use of HTML is very difficult to update web pages on the website, and would actually require a web developer to properly sort out these codes. It is very complicated to manage web pages and corresponding updates. In revising designs of your website, you would also encounter more difficulty in static websites since the style is mixed with the content. It tough, if you want to sitemap your website.

In static websites, once you update a webpage, you must edit the entire site. Small sites may be better off with static sites since they don't too much updating, but if these sites are subject to expansions, a dynamic site may be very worth to added cost.

Dynamic websites, it uses a database for storing of information. This allows programming languages such as PHP, ASP, and CFML to be used and be translated to HTML. Dynamic websites always allow user-friendly content management. The users can easily edit the texts and images displayed on the website when they need to update.

They can maximize their sense of control on all their web pages. That's because they don't have to rely on a program simply to understand complicated commands. And once a user updates a particular web page, dynamic sites have menu systems that automatically update the webpages of the website. Then the browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla can understand the page. You can use these options to simplify easily your website developing, rather than go through HTML.

Static websites are easier to build as they are coded using HTML and CSS usually. Debugging or find a problem is easier with them as there is no complex code in it. But updating these websites can become time-consuming if a change is made central to the website as each page has to build and uploaded to the server.

Dynamic websites are less easy and cheaper to build than static one as they are built using scripting languages, such as Perl, PHP, ASP, etc. Since the code and data are stored separately for a dynamic site, updating them is easy as updating only requires dealing with the data or information part and it can be done by a nontechnical person easily.

Content Management Systems produce dynamic sites, which is the reason why updating them is easy and can be carried out by a nontechnical person.

After understanding the difference between both Static and Dynamic, Its time to consider which type of website will be feasible to your needs, like which is less costly to build, easier to update.

Most of the users find a dynamic website is easier to handle since they can continuously update style without having to touch on the valuable content.
