The United Kingdom (UK) is home to a sizeable population of Muslims and many of them dream of performing their Umrah by visiting the holy city of Makkah from their place of residence in the country. This Islamic pilgrimage is at times called the 'lesser pilgrimage' as the major pilgrimage is Hajj, which is one of Islam's five pillars. Although it is lesser in importance as compared to Hajj, it has a special place in Islam as it is the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Owing to the spiritual rewards of Umrah, many Muslims residing in the UK are always on the lookout for opportunities to perform this pilgrimage.

A range of Umrah Packages UK tour operators offer during different seasons allows many Muslims residing in the country to fulfil their dream of performing the lesser pilgrimage. Among these seasons is the holy month of Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had once mentioned that an Umrah performed in this month was just like (in reward) accompanying him on Hajj. This explains the importance of performing this pilgrimage in Ramadan. Packages for this season is always in great demand among Muslims of the UK owing to the greater spiritual benefits associated with it.

Yet another popular season for performing the lesser pilgrimage is December, especially the last week of the month. This is the time when most of the offices and educational institutions in the country are closed for Christmas and New Year celebrations. Muslims residing in the country can book their desired packages for this time of the year well in advance to have greater savings for their journey. The last week of December is also one of the times when the entire family can go for Umrah. It would also allow them to escape the harsh weather that prevails in this part of the world during winters.

Easter in the UK is also a good time for Muslims of this country to embark on the sacred journey to Makkah for accomplishing their lesser pilgrimage. Schoolchildren enjoy their time off from studies for more than a week and the working population in the country also get a long break from their workplaces due to Easter holidays. However, the climate in Makkah during this period would be extremely hot and the pilgrims going to Makkah from the UK would need adequate protection from the scorching heat. They have to carry light cotton clothes and keep themselves hydrated while in Makkah during this season.

Irrespective of the season for which the Muslims of the UK book their packages, it is essential that they compare the packages made available online for these seasons. Upon making comparisons, they can find a suitable package that would significantly reduce the costs involved in making the journey to Makkah. It is always a good idea for the prospective pilgrims to decide the date of departure and the number of days they would like to be in Makkah after their arrival in the holy city several months in advance. This would enable them to book the chosen package at the earliest and have greater savings.
