Are you wondering the same? Maybe we can clear the air for you.

Truth: Olaplex hair treatment has become a household name among frequent "salon-er’s". And although well known, little is still known as to how it works and its long-term benefits.

Truth: Olaplex is a 3-step system. The simple 3-step process includes a patented active ingredient that works on a molecular level to repair broken bonds in the hair caused by chemical (bleach), thermal (flat irons, curling irons) and mechanical damage (constant brushing, braiding, stress).

The Beginning: Olaplex #1 This concentrated first salon step rebuilds broken disulfide bonds and begins the process of preventing damage and repairing hair. The patented active ingredient in Olaplex is a compound called bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, which is a "bond multiplier" and begins the process of preventing damage and repairing hair.

Pursuing Perfection: Olaplex #2 the second step continues to rebuild and restore any remaining broken bonds ensuring the strongest, shiniest, and healthiest hair possible. Olaplex #2 is not an activator, neutralizer, sealer or conditioner but contains the same active ingredient as Olaplex No.1, however it’s intended to repair any bonds missed by Olaplex No. 1.

Perfection: Olaplex #3 is an at-home treatment that reduces breakage and visibly strengthens hair, improving its look and feel. This take-home treatment is to be used to keep hair strong and healthy between color treatments at the salon. It has the same identical ingredients as Olaplex #2, however in a slightly lower concentration of the active ingredient, which makes it perfect for the at-home treatment. However, Olaplex #3 is not a conditioner! You will still need to use a conditioner.

Truth: Olaplex is repairing each hair strand as a whole (from base to ends). It finds bonds that have been broken down by any means (hair color, chemical straighteners, blow dryers, etc.) and reconnects them both ionically and covalently. Meaning that broken or weak bonds, located anywhere on the hair shaft, are targeted.

Truth: Olaplex is for everyone, literally. All hair goes through stress that leads to breakage. Colored, fine full, natural – even extensions. All hair types can benefit from Olaplex!

Fiction: Olaplex is not a conditioner.

Fiction: Olaplex is NOT A MIRACLE WORKER. If you hair is already badly damaged, that doesn’t mean you can take your jet-black hair to platinum. You (or your stylist) should not push the integrity of your hair if it is already compromised.

Truth: Olaplex is a revolutionary tool, but good judgement needs to be used. The history of your hair will be a determining factor as to how far your hair can be pushed!

Truth: A thorough consultation with one of Sanctuary’s highly trained Olaplex and color specialist will be able to guide you! Choose Sanctuary Salon & Med Spa as your Olaplex treatment salon! And be sure to check out some of our Olaplex Before and Afters!
