The different thickness of brushes used, the ink and the depth of the color, the absorption of ink by the paper, all have to be kept in mind while one is doing calligraphy.

Rules to abide by!

It is all about being correct. The characters have to be right, there is a different between correct and incorrect calligraphy. The characters should at least be eligible to the ones who study this and are in the profession. People who are not familiar with it might not recognize it but the ones familiar with it should recognize the writing. It should all be preferably written with black ink. That is the traditional color used for Custom Chinese Calligraphy.
