My Tech Gadget of Choice
Posted: Aug 29, 2019
Over the years, I've had desktop computers, a laptop, cell phones, Play Station 4, Xbox one and, my most recent addition, an iPad. While it's nice to have several forms of communication and entertainment, if I could only have one gadget, I would choose a laptop. A laptop gives me the ability to type articles, watch movies, email, shop, play the latest games and catch up with friends on social networking sites.
I always say, I can live without T.V., but I cannot live without the Internet. If I am not a freelance writer, then I could definitely get by with just a smartphone. However, since writing is a big part of my life, I don't exactly enjoy typing 800 or so words a day on a small touch screen. Also, I don't have cable television and enjoy watching some of my favorite shows on Hulu.
Recently, I purchased an iPad. While an iPad is lighter and more portable than some laptops, it has some drawbacks that laptops don't have. The first is that laptops can use flash while an iPad cannot. Flash is helpful to view charts, like the Page View Chart on The Yahoo Contributor Network. Also, some websites utilize flash to view their websites.
With a laptop, you can pretty much use it anywhere. Most coffee shops, bookstores and even parks have WiFi. Thus, it is easy to go online on the go, on vacation or in your bed if you are sick.
Laptops are also nice because you can communicate with friends on social networking sites. Also, you can Skype with family members and friends. Skype is an online video live phone chat. I would definitely miss the portability and ease of my cell phone. However, I don't talk on my cell phone or text that much, so its not a necessity.
Currently, I have a desktop computer, an iPad and a simple, non touch screen cell phone. With all of these gadgets, I can talk on the phone, write, use apps, watch movies on Netflix, shows on Hulu and earn some extra cash writing.
I used to have a laptop but it was stolen out of my husband's car. If I were to only have one tech gadget, I would invest in a really nice Mac Air Notebook. It has really good battery life and it's light. It also has Facetime where you can talk and see anyone with a Mac, an iPhone, or the iPod touch.
Being a gaming enthusiast, I love playing all the latest games and as you can see most of the gadgets I talked about allows me to play games. I like playing Clash of Clans on my iPad and League of Legends on my laptop. Even though I don’t buy high performance gaming laptops, my laptop is good enough to play most online games since I have a good CPU and 8GB of RAM.
I hope I never have to have just one gadget. However, if I ever do, I think all my tech needs could be satisfied with a laptop.
nice an information i really love it
