Biodegradable waste includes any organic matter in waste which can be broken down into carbon dioxide, water, methane or simple organic molecules by micro-organisms & other living things by composting, aerobic digestion, anaerobic digestion or similar processes. In waste management it also includes some inorganic equipment which can be decomposed by bacteria. Such as materials include gypsum & Compost Machine products such as plasterboard & other simple organic sulfates which can decompose to yield hydrogen supplied in anaerobic landfill conditions. In domestic waste collection the scope of bio-degradable waste may be narrowed to include only those degradable wastes capable of being handled in the local waste handling amenities. Bio-degradable waste can be found in municipal solid waste (sometimes called biodegradable municipal waste, or BMW) as green waste, food waste, paper waste, and bio-degradable plastics. Other bio-degradable wastes include human waste, compost, sewage, sewage sludge and slaughterhouse waste. In the absence of oxygen a lot of this waste will decay to methane by anaerobic digestion. In various parts of the residential world bio-degradable waste is separated from the rest of the waste stream either by separate kerb-side collection or by waste sorting after collection. At the point of collection such as waste is often referred to as green waste. Removing such waste from the rest of the waste stream considerably reduces waste volumes for disposal & also allows biodegradable waste to be composted.

Uses of biodegradable waste

Compost Machine Manufacturers can be used for composting or a resource for heat electricity and fuel by means of incineration or anaerobic digestion. Swiss Kompogas & the Danish AIKAN process are examples of anaerobic digestion of biodegradable waste. While incineration can recover the mostly energy anaerobic digestion plants retain nutrients & make compost for soil amendment & still recover some of the contained energy in the form of biogas. Kompogas produced 27 million Kwh of electricity and biogas in 2009. The oldest of the company's lorries has achieved 1,000,000 Km driven with biogas from household waste in the last 15 years.

Areas relying on organic waste

Featured in an edition of The Economist that predicted events in 2014 it was revealed that Massachusetts creates roughly 1.4 million tons of organic waste every year. Massachusetts along with Connecticut & Vermont are also going to enact laws to divert food waste from land-fills. In small & densely populated states landfill capacity is limited so disposal costs are higher ($60–90 per ton in MA compared to national average of $49. Decomposing food waste generates methane a notorious greenhouse gas. However this biogas can be captured & turned into energy through anaerobic digestion and then sold into the electricity grid.Waste management (for waste disposal) is the activities & actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. This includes the collection, transport, treatment & disposal of waste, together with monitoring & regulation of the waste management process. Waste can be solid liquid, or gaseous & each type has dissimilar methods of disposal & management. Waste management deals with all types of waste, including industrial, biological & household. In some cases, waste can pose a threat to person health. Waste is produced by human activity for example the extraction & processing of raw materials. Waste management is intended to reduce adverse effects of waste on human health the atmosphere or aesthetics. Waste management practices are not uniform among nation (residential & developing nations) regions (city & rural areas) and residential and industrial sectors can all take dissimilar approaches. A large portion of waste management practices deal with municipal solid waste (MSW) which is the bulk of the waste that is created by household, industrial) & commercial activity.
