6 team building activities that your entire team will like to try
Posted: Sep 19, 2019
A company depends on the ability of employees to work well together. Chances are that some members of your team perform well, while others do not. They are aware of the standards that they must maintain, but they do not know how to work as a team. This is a problem because if your staff members do not enhance their roles or connections, your organisation will not move forward. You have to teach employees to set aside their personal prejudices and make them want to take on group responsibilities. This is easier said than done. Team building exercises can help people function more effectively. If you do not know what activities to organise, here are some suggestions.
1. Scavenger hunt
You have gone on a scavenger hunt as a child. It is one of the most exciting games you can play. You fight to gather the most items from the list. But it is not a simple treasure hunt. While you do not receive cryptic clues or codes, you have to discover incredible objects. Scavenger hunts are for children and adults alike. Why do you not have an office scavenger hunt? Make it fun for participants. Include lots of items on the list and do not let your creativity let you down. You can include clues that showcase your team members’ unique characteristics. This will determine your employees to come out of their shells and demonstrate their value. Set the time and make sure that all your people show up.
2. Dinner party
Who said that you cannot enhance social relations and define team roles while eating? Everyone needs to eat and dinner is a dream come true for your employees. End the workday with a dinner party. There are limits to what you can do, but that does not mean that you cannot have fun. Have staff members make their own meals. Employees will work hard to achieve the same goal while cooking. If you want to take things to another level, include a wine tasting experience. Wine can be experienced with a friend. The bonds that form in the kitchen last forever. In the future, your team members will be able to solve problems, boost collaboration, and increase productivity.
3. Painting class
Do you wish to do something out of the ordinary? Sign people up for a painting class. You can create a mural or depict an image chosen by your team. Employees will love to get their hands dirty. They will have the chance to unleash their creativity and do something special. Maybe your staff members will not create a masterpiece. However, they will certainly have the time of their lives. Bring out the inner artist in your team members. You will not regret it.
4. Play netball
Teamwork is one of the skills that you need when playing sports. When it comes to sports, individual goals do not take precedence over team goals. Through casual organised participation, people improve their physical ability and teamwork skills, while enjoying quality entertainment. Netball games improve team bonding, in case you were wondering. So, give it a try. To play netball, you need two teams of seven players. Determine which two players will be the ones to score and which ones will be on defence. During the game, employees will get to know each other better and they will learn what it is like to work as a team. You could not hope for more. Take advantage of this chance to better know the members of your team.
5. Trampoline park
If you are ready to have a great time, get your staff members and head on over to a trampoline park. Even if your employees are adults, they will have so much fun jumping up and down the trampoline. You too can jump with them. Since you are going, do not sit and watch the door. Join the party. The members of the team will always remember the day spent at the trampoline park. Custom packages are available for corporations, so you can find something that will meet your needs and budget. In case you did not know, you can organise dodgeball tournaments or a football competition. What is more, you can offer fun prizes. Why not? After all, you want to get people excited about coming to office parties.
6. Sumo wrestling
This might seem like an outrageous idea, but you should try sumo wrestling. This competitive type of wrestling can strengthen teamwork, as hard as it may seem to believe. The aim is to bring the opponent down or push them outside of the ring. What will this teach your employees? Just that they can build healthy connections with their manager. Companies organising sumo wrestling provide the suits and gear you need. The point is that if you want to improve communication and camaraderie, change things up a bit. They may not like this traditional sport in the beginning but, once they get used to it, they will not want to go home.
