Traditionally available full-field and single point ERGs are insensitive and are limited to record only a part of the retina. Additionally, these devices do not provide topographical information or assessment of non-foveal lesions. Whereas, mfERG is used to record ERG responses simultaneously from many regions of the retina.
mfERG, is used in the diagnosis of unknown visual loss, distinguish between the optic nerve and retinal disease, and determination of hydroxychloroquine toxicity. For instance, Dipsys mfERG by Diosys is used to diagnose the first signs of drug-induced retinopathy and retinal toxicities. Similarly, Multifocal ERG by LKC Technologies is used for measuring the functional health of the retina, optic nerve, and visual cortex through multiple stimulation patterns types to provide accurate and compatible test results. Hence, the growing popularity of mfERG is expected to drive the growth of the global electroretinograph market at a CAGR of 6.90% during the forecast period.
Table of Contents:
The global electroretinograph (ERG) market size will grow by USD 13.83 million during 2019-2023 at a CAGR close to 7%.
