So when you take a look in the mirror, you realise that your hair is long past a scheduled appointment with a hair salon Toowoomba. The colour could do with a new tint but you think to yourself, why not save some money by doing the colour yourself. Not a bad idea, but you may have noticed that there is a much wider range of colours to choose from as hair stylists venture into different trends.

A visit to the supply shop would reveal that you would need to choose from colours ranging from blonde to grey. Yes, grey too is an option! Now despite all the fashion freedom today, you still need to worry whether the colour you choose will be complementing your skin colour.

For many ladies though, even their skin colour is a mystery to them and it is not easy to know which skin tone goes best with which hair colour. Well, if you are determined to do your own hair, here are a few tips to get it done with a visit to the Toowoomba hairdressers.

Step 1- No Makeup

Yes, you need to get all that makeup off your face to ensure that you can see your natural skin colour. Make sure you get it all off, if need be, wash your face over and over until you can see the real you.

Step 2 – Find Natural Light

Remember you want to know your natural skin tone, so you need to see it in natural light as opposed to fluorescent light that may reflect a different tone onto you. A room with a big window that lets in sunlight would be perfect and it should be obvious that the sun should be up when you conduct this test.

Step 3- The Collared Shirt Tests

Now you need to find a blue or green shirt and a red or yellow shirt. Hold the blue or green shirt to your face and see how flattering you look next to it, then do the same with the red or yellow shirt. Now if you look better next to the blue or green shirt, then you are a cool tone and if you look better with the red or yellow one, then you are a warm tone.

Step 4- Extra Test

Maybe you were not able to come up with a conclusive skin tone, so you can carry out a veins test. Look at the veins on your wrist, if you have green veins, you are a warm skin tone and if they are purple or blue, you are a cool skin tone.

Choosing the Hair Colour

Now that the test is done, you can choose the colour for the hair even by visiting the hair salon Toowoomba.

So if you determine you are a warm tone, then it is safe to go for cool tone colours. The contrast will complement your skin. You can identify such colours with the word cool or ash in their names

For ladies with cool tone skin, you can go ahead and get warm tone colours to compliment you.

This is a guide for you to play it safe but if you want to experiment with the wilder colours, you may need more tips and if you are choosing a colour for a wedding, it may be a better idea to visit bridal hair Toowoomba for a perfect look.
