We all know that conferences are great avenues for medical professionals to meet, connect with one another, and find business leads, all while staying informed with the current developments in the industry. For pharma companies looking for an opportunity to expand, this avenue becomes the perfect platform to showcase their strides of success to the rest of the world.

With 2019 coming close to an end, we look back upon this eventful year and recall the good pharmaceutical conferences that occurred in Europe (there were quite a few). The following four that took place all across Europe remind us about the significant role they play in a medical professional’s life.

1. Digital Pharma Europe (Rome, Italy)

This pharmaceutical conference took place from 4th-6th July this year in the ever-beautiful city of Rome. Digital Pharma happens to be a recently initiated industry events in Europe and strives to create a comfortable platform for software developers, data scientists, digital marketers, drug discovery scientists, and pharma business executives. This year, this conference was the perfect place to discuss clinical data management, data safety, privacy, and real-world evidence. Apart from this, relevant topics in the pharma world (such as digital disruption) were also discussed, with the ever-changing European biopharma landscape being the central theme.

2. EDQM-USP International Symposium on Pharmaceutical Reference Standards (Strasbourg, France)

This pharmaceutical conference took place in Strasbourg on the 13th and 14th of March this year. Revolving about the principle of pharmaceutical reference standards, this symposium brought together the stakeholders in characterization and manufacture to the same platform and used reference standards to fuel heated discussions and debates about the various issues involved in drug product manufacturing today. Pharmaceutical reference standards is a key aspect in the production and development of medicine; it is also used for quality control. This international symposium provided a great opportunity for medical professionals to connect with GMP- compliant and certified labs, along with regulatory affairs professionals from all over the world to discuss matters on biomanufacturing reference standards.

3. ESMO (Barcelona, Spain)

This pharmaceutical conference took place between the 26th of September and the 1st of October in Barcelona. To this day, this conference is considered one of the trendsetting pharma events in all of Europe and is an annual meeting where professionals from various fields come together to talk about pharma. Be it clinicians, patient advocates, small and medium business owners, or journalists, everyone discusses pharma and strides in the field with enthusiasm. Offering professionals the opportunity to engage and collaborate with veterans in the field, this conference gives a little nudge to the discovery-stage companies towards great audiences.

4. TOPRA Annual Symposium (Dublin, Ireland)

This pharmaceutical conference took place between the 30th of September and the 2nd of October in Dublin. A confluence of regulatory professionals, this symposium featured a seminar on the advancements of pharmaceutical regulations. When innovations in medicine and regulations happen parallelly, a pharma conference like this is the place to go. While it is considered crucial to attend conferences with regulatory bodies, this symposium involved a fair amount of discussions on product quality and drug manufacturing, making it even more interesting.
