Flexi Hiring in Indian IT Industry

Flexi-staffing or flexi-hiring in India has seen a big growth over the past few years and the IT sector is set to lead the way, according to a report from Indian Staffing Federation. According to the staffing body’s estimates, the number of flexi workforce in the Indian IT sector increase to 7 lakh by 2021. "Flexi staffing in the coming years will be on a fast-paced growth trajectory, as there is a huge opportunity for organizations to use it to meet organizational needs and objectives with the appropriately skilled resources for a given role. Not just that, as flexi staffing moves up the value chain in an organization and the future workplace becomes agile, mobile and flexible, the opportunity for us as staffing organizations to grow and create an impact is immense," says Sunil Kilaru, CEO of PRIMUS Global Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Here are 5 key highlights from the report:

1. Niche skill requirements on project basis, reducing on-bench workforce and irregular flow of assignments are some of the key reasons driving growth in flexi-hiring in IT industry. With emerging technologies such as AI and Big Data, new skill requirements are in demand in IT industry. Flexi staffing is a solution to find out the right skill based on project requirement.
2. Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India, is a major contributing city for flexi-staffing in the IT sector. The start-up eco-system is also helping increase flexi-hiring in the city.
3. Other cities such as Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Pune are also contributing towards flexi-hiring adoption in IT sector.
4. From a base of 3.6 lakh flexi workforce in 2015, the flexi workforce of Indian IT sector is set to increase to over 7 lakh by 2021.
5. Currently, it is estimated that out of 40 lakh workforce in the ITeS sector, the penetration level of flex workforce is 12.5% or 5 lakh or 12.5 out of every 100 workers are from flexi workforce.

Sunil helped the Dallas office of Whittman-Hart in getting a good client base with his extensive contacts during the initial phase. Sunil was involved in designing and developing IT solutions for client's like American Airlines, i2, 3M, InterVoice, Silicon Graphics, Aimco, Westin Resorts, and Warrantech.

Sunil has an MBA in IT & Finance from The University of Dallas, M.S in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nagarjuna University.
