College – a time of opportunities, adventure, new starts, and – stress? Yes, as it turns out, college is a unique way for students to find out just how much they can cram into their brains right before an exam. Does it pay off? Or do students miraculously retain all the information they gleaned the night before? Here are five ways college students can reduce their work assignment stress – especially when it comes to turning in their work by the deadline.
1. Scheduled Study Time
Scheduled study time is the golden ticket to producing better results on your assignment and worrying much less about when you’ll get the work done. If your class requires 2-3 hours of homework per meeting, schedule 2-3 hours, either publically or at home.
When fulfilling your personal mandate for scheduled study time, you can choose to either study alone in a private space (home, office, etc.), or in public (union building, study area at school, etc.). We recommend checking with your personality to see which is the best fit for you. Unless you know yourself full well, we do not recommend using the bed in your bedroom as a personal study space. The temptation to fall asleep during your scheduled study time may be too great. Instead, opt for a bench, table, chairs, or even floor for a more comfortable all-around study experience.
