Prada is an Italian comfort fashion industry, specializes in leather Parada Bags, travel accessories, Prada shoes, ready-to-wear designer items, fragrances, and other fashion accessories. Initially, the shop sold animal items and imported English steamer trunks and good quality handbags. At present, Prada bags are widely sold all over the world, due to its unique design, quality, and different shapes.

According to Mario Prada, he did not believe that women should have a role in business, and so he prevented female family members from entering his company. Although, Mario's son showed no interest in the business, so it was his daughter Luisa Prada who took the helm of Prada as his successor and ran it for almost 20 years. Her own daughter, Miuccia Prada, joined the company in 1970, eventually taking over for her mother Luisa Prada in 1978.

Miuccia Prada began making waterproof Prada backpacks out of Pocone, a nylon fabric, and later designed Prada nylon bag. In 1977, she met Patrizio Bertelli, an Italian who had begun his own leather goods business at the age of 24, and he joined the company soon after. He advised Miuccia Prada on company business, which she followed humbly. Patrizio Bertelli, advised Miuccia to discontinue importing English goods and to change the existing luggage.

She inherited the company in 1978, and at the time sales were up to the U.S. $450,000. With Patrizio Bertelli alongside her as business manager, Miuccia Prada was allowed to implement her creativity in the company's designs. She released her first set of Prada totes and backpacks in 1979. The material of tote bag and backpack was made out of a tough military black nylon that her grandfather had used as coverings for steamer trunks. Initially success was not instant, as they were hard to sell due to the lack of advertising and expensive prices, but still, it was a big hit.

Prada Bags & Department Stores

Next, Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli sought out wholesale accounts for the Prada Bags in huge department stores and boutiques worldwide. Prada Company launched a second boutique in the center of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan's shopping heart, in 1983. It was opened on the site of the previous historic "London House" emporium run by Felice Bellini from 1870 to the 1960s. The next big release was the Prada nylon tote bag. A shoe product line was also released in 1984 by Prada. Miuccia Prada released the "classic Prada handbag" that became an overnight sensation in 1985.

Prada Collections for Women

In 1987, Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli got married. Prada Company launched its women's ready-to-wear collection items in 1989, and the designs came to be known for their dropped waistlines products and Prada narrow belts. The popularity of the company increased when the fashion world took notice of its clean lines, opulent fabrics, and basic unique colours. The logo for the label of Prada was not a perfect design element, as those on the handbags of other brands such as Louis Vuitton’s LV Label.
