Time to move

Have you ever had to move from your house, or maybe an apartment you’ve been living in? Just the thought brings you shivers doesn’t it!? For most of us, moving is probably one of the most time consuming and exhausting things we’ll ever have to do, especially if we don’t have a proper vehicle capable of transporting all of our belongings. Luckily there are moving companies for that! Most of us already have a picture in our minds of the big box truck typical of moving companies. You know the big clunky one that’s difficult to maneuver, yet we still choose anyway? Yes, that one. Do you really need a big box truck to move all your things though? let’s find out.

Better Options

Although the box truck is synonymous with moving it’s not the only kid on the block. In fact for most people using a pickup truck would prove to be a better option. For starters most drivers have more experience driving small cars and sport utility vehicles (aka the SUV), so a box truck loaded with furniture and such may be a huge challenge to drive around. It’s already difficult as it is to move, why make the trip difficult as well right? Take note of what it is you’re actually moving before you choose to rent a box truck. If you’re a student, or someone single moving into a new place you may not have a lot of belongings to begin with. Maybe a few boxes, a couch, a couple light pieces of furniture and a twin sized bed. Maybe you're none of the above, maybe you're a landscaper and you have some equipment you need to move, or materials to relocate. If that’s the case then this may be your best option.

Practicality

Depending on where you’re moving you may not be able to drive in a box truck. It could be due to the load bearing limitations of the landscape, or maybe the location doesn’t allow you the height clearance necessary to pass through. These are definitely important things to consider before choosing a transportation vehicle. With an average load capacity upwards of 4,000 lbs. and the ability to tow, you’ll be able to not only transport your items, but also transport other vehicles. You may have a boat you need to relocate, or a car that needs to be towed, even more than that you can also tow another cargo unit behind you to maximize what you can carry to your drop off location. Not only can it get it done, but depending on how far you’ll be traveling and how frequent you’ll be going to and from your drop off location, a pickup has almost twice the gas mileage than your typical box truck making it the better option for cost savings.

Having a large open cargo bed is another plus for many reasons. This makes it quick and easy to load items on and off the truck. Landscapers, and DIYers will definitely love this feature. The cargo bed is covered in tough bed lining so even if you had to transport a pallet of bricks, bundles of lumber, or sacks of dirt, you’re covered. Speaking of covered, if you do happen to have items that you’re worried would be exposed to the elements you can always throw on a tarp and strap it down over your cargo bed. This will keep all your items covered just enough to keep them from being damaged. Oh and here’s an added bonus, you'll have the benefit of a smoother ride overall, being comfortable for passengers and less damaging to your items.

Conclusion

So what will you be transporting? Do you prefer a better experience? I know I would, and I think the pickup will do you wonders. From the ease of loading and unloading, the comfortable passenger seating, the ability to tow, and the smoother ride, I think you’re going to love it. Plus, like I mentioned before, moving is already quite difficult to begin with, so make it as comfortable as possible while you’re at it. Cheers, and happy moving!
