Wireless Ethernet Bridges are an economical and simple way of connecting the geographically distant places. With the help of the Wireless Bridge, more than two remote sites can appear on the same network as a central site allowing access to Domain services, file shares, and other things. The Wireless Ethernet Bridges are simple devices to install, configure and maintain. The most convenient and cost-effective way of transferring data between two points in an outdoor area network is deployment. Cost has been a major factor that has contributed to the popularity of the wireless Ethernet network.

An understanding of the various components is very important to deploy a network successfully. But, before you start with the deployment, various things need to be considered such as the hardware products, Line Of Sight (LoS), Site Acquisition, and Resources And People. All this factors play a decisive role in the choice of the hardware products, mounting location of the access point (AP) and total project cost.

Tips To Deploy Point To Point Wireless Ethernet:

  • Line of Sight ( LoS) - Radio Frequency Line of Sight ( RF LoS) between the mesh access points is an important requirement for the successful deployment of point-to-point mesh network. The RF LoS is not like the visual LoS, and the two APs can still have good Radio Frequency Line of Sight (LoS) even in deployment at far distances. Fresnel zone clearance between the two Access Points is an important factor that influences the RF LoS.

  • Site Acquisition Requirements - These networks span in multiple kilometers. Unlike the indoor wireless networks, the equipment is not placed on a single building in the area. In order to cover the area, multiple access points and antennas are placed on different buildings. The mounting location for the APs and antennas are very crucial for the deployment. The following things are required to set up simple Point-To-Point Wireless Ethernet:
  • Power (AC/ DC/ Power over Ethernet) next to the AP mounting location;
  • Ethernet or fiber network (backhaul) at certain locations based on network design to backhaul wireless mesh traffic to data center;
  • Lease agreements and legal approvals;
  • Moreover, People and Resources should also be considered for the deployment of Point-To-Point Wireless Ethernet. The outdoor deployment can be a time taking and complicated process. Hence, in order to save time, it is very important that the right people are employed having experience in the field. They should have expertise and knowledge about the Radio Frequency, computer networking, electrical, and project Management.
