7 Reasons We Need To Look Into Our Education System And Bring Out Positive Changes

Posted: Dec 09, 2019
Each established system in the nation always attracts serious criticism. The Indian Education system particularly has been the target of numerous allegations from students, parents, and teachers. Students think they are overburdened, teachers think they are not paid enough and parents need their children to get 99.99 results. Where does this race stop?
In recent times, a few steps have been taken on education changes, but it needs a lot more than that.
Here are the top 7 reasons to look into our education system and bring out positive changes.
- Rote learning methodology
We have progressed with time; although, we still have not been able to move away from rote learning methodology.
The schools must be encouraged to introduce conceptual learning which maintains a strategic distance from mugging-up whatever they are being taught. While this will assist students with understanding the concepts better, they will likewise be able to retain and apply them better.
- Assessment System
Marks still play the most significant card in deciding the eventual fate of kids and this frequently descends upon students as a burdening factor. The weight of marks frequently causes students to fail to meet expectations.
Rather than concentrating the assessment on a three-hour test, the focus of assessment should be classroom participation, assignments/projects, communication, and leadership skills and extracurricular activities.
Only then the students will give their 100% and be assessed at their best.
- Equivalent respect to each subject
We are still surviving in the education system where science stream tops the stream hierarchy. Students are pushed to turn into a machine that goes for prominent subjects and subjects like languages, communications, arts are looked down upon and are not viewed as prominent career options.
Students should rather be pushed to pursue subjects according to their preferences instead of building this hierarchy between subjects.
- Better training of teachers
Teachers play the most important role in schools and hence, they should be given the best of class training. After all, they are shaping the future of the nation, the children. Teachers are often considered as second parents.
Thus, they should be imparted their training in a way that they can act as parents to the children away from their homes.
While teaching, they should create a congenial and home-like atmosphere where students can feel empathy and love in the classroom and which can then be reflected in their behaviors.
- Using technology with teaching
We all realize we have entered the time of the fourth industrial revolution. We are experiencing a renaissance of technology and in such a state, technology and education framework can’t be kept separated.
Students must be instructed about technology directly from the early stages of their education with the goal that it doesn’t come like an outsider thing in their later life.
Indian schools must grasp technology and education with an open heart and spread the equivalent to the students as it is there, where their future lies.
