Hormonal acne is those pimples that pop up during your teenage years. Some women aged between 20 to 40 years of age still have hormonal acne. But sometimes, it becomes difficult to differentiate between hormonal acne and normal acne.

WHAT IS HORMONAL ACNE?

Firstly, you need to know about the difference between normal pimples and hormonal acne. Hormonal acne is directly linked to the projection of hormones in your body. The hormones are mainly estrogen and progesterone. Both of these hormones are found in both men and women, therefore, the effect could vary from person to person. Lastly, cortisol, the stress hormone, stimulates the projection of all of these hormones likewise.

SIGNS WHICH SHOW THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE HORMONAL ACNE:

1. You are no longer in your teenage days

Hormonal acne attacks someone in his/her 20s. This is because men and women are both hormonally active during this period of time. But only age does not cause the same. Hormonal changes vary from person to person. Therefore, the amount of hormonal activity happening in a person varies too.

2. Pimples pop up between your chin and jawline

One of the most convenient signs of hormonal abnormality is when acne pop up on your face. If you are having inflammation cysts around your chin and jawline then you can bet a million dollars that the same is probably hormonal acne. The most common reason why this has happened on your face might be because of all the oil production that might have had clogged up in your face.

3. The Breakout occurs once in a month

Hormonal acne occurs in a cyclic manner every month. It is usually that period of time where men and women both have a high hormonal flow throughout their body. Hormonal breakout usually occurs at the same place every month. This is because the previous pore might have gotten enlarged via the previous pimple.

4. Stress

Cortisol, the stress hormone, is one of the main causes of why other hormones are being affected too. Men and women who are under stress most of the times are prone to having more and more of this hormonal acne. Staying under stress needs to be reduced effectively.

5. You have to deal with painful cysts

The blackheads which occur on your face typically yield more junk than the usual junk. The bacteria and dust remain in those pores and thus, in turn, happen to juice up the hormonal acne. These bumps happen to occur under the skin deeply and are not possible to remove manually. These bumps usually occur because the oil has been stored over a period of time and therefore, cause an inflammatory reaction. Just because these have an inflammatory component, this type of acne still needs a clinical approach. They need to be treated from the inside rather than treating them from the outside.
