Infrastructure is important for every country. Undoubtedly, US infrastructure is in serious condition. Bridges are falling and roads are continuing. Day by day, transportation infrastructure is getting worse and needs improvements. The government of the United States is struggling for bridge infrastructure funds, as the public funds are insufficient to complete the need. According to the federal National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission, approximately 25% of bridges in the united states are deficient and need improvement. Now, it’s high time to improve the + transportation infrastructure. Congress provides six ideas for fixing the infrastructure problems in the United States.

Fixing the Fund

Funding is the most important aspect of improving bridge infrastructure. The Highway Trust Fund offers the financing structure for the projects of transportation infrastructure. But, due to insufficient funds, they are unable to offer a financing structure for infrastructure improvement. So, what’s the solution? Public-private partnership is the only solution which can solve this problem. Public-private partnership is a mutual partnership between a government and a private entity. United Bridge Partners, a private bridge infrastructure company invests private bridge capital for solving infrastructure crisis. Apart from investing in private capital, they own and operate bridges across the United States.

Empower State and Local Governments

America is under the financial stage. As mentioned above, the prime solution is a public-private partnership. But, this financial problem can also be resolved if state and local government comes together. Primarily, the local government handles infrastructure problems, the situation may become better if both state and local governments come together. Other options that would help in solving infrastructure problems are creating a separate bank for infrastructure, expanding public-private partnerships and enabling tolling on interstate highways.

Increase Rural Access

In rural states, Highways play an important role in improving the economy of a country. These highways get connected to the Western ports to smoothen the transportation of goods. They act as interstate bridges for energy, agriculture and freight industries. But, the government focuses on urban development and neglect the rural highways. This reduces the connectivity of routes and mass transits in rural areas. According to the Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics, 8.9 million rural residents unable to access intercity transportation.

Get Cities to Think Big

The government should think big when the concern is about infrastructure. Local governments cannot handle complete infrastructure by own. The state government should take some action on this problem. Else, the public-private partnership is the best thing to proceed. It’s a quick solution in which both public and private entities work for mutual benefits.

A private transportation infrastructure company named, United Bridge Partners owns and operated bridges across the United States. Cline Avenue bridge in a major example of this. United Bridge Partners is working on this bridge and the bridge will be open for traffic in January 2020. Apart from the Cline Avenue Bridge, United Bridge Partners got confirmation from Bay city commissioner to operate Liberty bridge and Independence bridge.
