The demand for superior quality plastic products is growing nowadays. Consumers are demanding products with higher efficiency, reliability, stiffness, gloss, and other features in plastics. Meeting the demand of customers is a challenge for the billions dollar plastic industry. Therefore, masterbatch manufacturers are doing a lot of research and development work to develop additives in line with customer’s requirements.

The process of bringing a raw polymer alive is long and complicated. Plastic manufacturers need compatible additives to add to base polymers for suitable results and features. The polymer additives need to be consistent with the targeted base polymers to bring the desired effects after plastic processing. But, plastic processing is not short of difficulties such as imparting color, strength, and other features that customers demand in the products. Fortunately, the polymer additives manufacturer by firms is helping to overcome these problems.

Top colorants and dispersant in plastic processing

In the plastic processing industry, hundreds of colorants are available for manufacturers. The dye must be economical and impart the desired color intensity on the products during processing. The traditional color pigments are ineffective in delivering desired results in plastic processing.

Mono color concentrates

The single pigment concentrates, or mono masters contain a high concentration of single color than the ordinary dyes. The mono-color concentrates contain 50 - 70% inorganic pigment or 30 - 50% of organic pigment, which is combined to ensure a seamless dispersion in the PE, PP, and PS. Most importantly, additive manufacturers combine two or more colors to obtain tailor-made shades to use in the plastics.

The MCCs contain a very high percentage of hard to disperse pigments and utilized to produce shades in the blown film, thin injection molding parts, and others at a low dosage level. Therefore, the cost of producing plastics with the required color to become economical for manufacturers.

Wax base pigment dispersion PVC

The processing of PVC film and sheet is not easy without the use of dispersant during manufacturing. The use of a wax base pigment dispersion PVC ensures homogenous dispersion of pigments with many features in the products. The dispersant brings a glossy surface, transparency, impact strength, and improve mechanical properties after using on blow film and molded plates. But, the dispersant is chosen under strict process conditions to acquire the necessary features in the products.

PET/Polyester masterbatch

Masterbatches play significant roles in imparting color and features to the plastic products. But, there are dedicated additives for each base polymer to bring the desired changes or features after the processing. The PET/Polyester masterbatch is used in the production of packaging solutions for bottles and synthetic fibre coloring. With the application of this masterbatch, plastic containers used in the foods, beverages, personal care, household, and cleaning with different shades come to the market. Hence, this additive is an integral part of the packaging solution for foods and other industries.

Conclusion

The demand for superior plastic products has increased rapidly in the market. To meet the rising demand for quality products, plastic processors need to use quality additives to produce products with essential features. Thus, plastic processors must partner with top manufacturers to get standard additive and masterbatch to make processing economical.
