The lock can also attract everyday metal items since it is just a magnet.Fail-safe maglocks are more common than fail-secure. However, since they require constant supply of power to remain locked, they are more expensive to keep.

You need to look at what you want really before you can make the decision to install maglocks in your house. In places where free departure is limited, maglocks are very appropriate. If you find yourself getting stressed over the code compliancy and mechanics to get it to work, then it is probably better to look for another security system.
