How Does One Prepare for CDS Examination

The notification for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam releases every year in the month of October and November. The CDS 2020 examination will be conducted on February 2, 2020, and November 8, 2020. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts this examination twice in a year to recruit candidates in the Indian Air Force Academy (AFA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers' Training Academy (OTA), and Indian Naval Academy (INA).The CDS examination is conducted in offline mode across more than 40 centres pan India. Every candidate scoring above the cut off marks for this written examination will be eligible for the SSB Interview round. This interview round is conducted in two stages at the end of which, the candidates will be selected on the basis of their overall performance, starting from the written examination. However, to score well in the examination, one must understand the paper pattern and the subject to be appeared for.The UPSC prepared the syllabus for the CDS 2020 examination. This test consists of objective type questions where 1 mark will be reduced for every wrong answer. The candidates will be attempting the examination for a total of 300 marks in 2 hours for each subject. The subjects for the CDS examination are - English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. The candidates appearing for OTA examination don't have to appear for Mathematics exam. The difficulty level for the examination ranges from low to moderate every year.Tips to prepare wellThe first essential step to score excellent marks in the examination is to study the entire syllabus.
