Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralised test for admission to 21 National Law Universities in India. 43 other education institutes and two public sector institutes are also eligible to use these scores. The test is taken after the Higher Secondary Examination or the 12th grade for admission to integrate under graduation programmes in Law and after Graduation in Law for Master of Laws (LL.M) programmes conducted by these law universities. The two-hour admission test consists of objective type covering questions on Elementary Mathematics or Numerical Ability, English with Comprehension, General knowledge and Current affairs, Legal Aptitude and Legal Awareness and Logical reasoning.

The test is conducted by the 21 participating law schools in rotation, in the order of their establishment, starting with National Law School of India University which conducted CLAT-2008, And now up to National Law University Odisha which conducted CLAT-2019.

Attempts

There are no restrictions on the number of attempts for CLAT.

Availability of Seats: About 2,700 seats are available for admission under CLAT for the LLB program while the intake for LLM courses across the national law universities is about 700 seats.

Placement

Some public sector companies (PSUs) like ONGC, BHEL, and Power Grid Corporation of India use the CLAT score of LLM aspirants while recruiting candidates for legal posts.

CLAT 2020 Rescheduled

To avoid clashing with the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2020, CLAT 2020 exam has been rescheduled from 12th May 2020 to May 10, 2020. Rest of the details of the exam will remain the same as mentioned in the official notification.
