Is PMP Certification Worth it?

A project manager has the responsibility of planning all the tasks to finishing it. A project manager needs to have the skill to fulfill all the roles to execute a project in a smooth way. Projects are being completed without certification too, the why PMP? Why a project manager should be a PMP Certified? Is it worth the hassle?

Yes! It definitely is worth it. The project management industry is set to grow by $6.5 trillion by 2020. PMP Credential is one of the most recognized Project Management Certification. There are currently more than 724,500 active PMP certified individuals and 285 chartered chapters across 207 countries and territories worldwide. This acclaimed credential is considered as a milestone in the industry. PMP is ba globally recognized certification exam. According to the Project Management Industry (PMI) 41.2 million jobs will be developed in the Project Management field by 2020.

Not everyone can apply for PMP course. There are certain eligibility requirements to follow.

Eligibility criteria for PMP Certification & Fee Structure

  • 4500 hours of Project Management Experience
  • Three (3) years of Project Management Experience within the past eight-year period prior to the application
  • 36 unique (non-overlapping) months of Project Management experience
  • 35 contact hours of Project Management education

OR

  • 7500 years of Project Management Experience
  • Five (5) years of Project Management Experience within the past eight-year period prior to the application
  • 36 unique (non-overlapping) months of project management experience
35 contact hours of Project Management education.

According to PMI, the PMP Certification Exam fee is 555 USD for the people who are not a member of PMI and 405 USD for all the members. If you wish to become a PMI Member, the membership fee is $129 and a $10 application fee. The PMP Training fee varies from institute to institute. Mostly in India, it ranges from Rs 15000 – Rs 25000. Project Management certification training is a must in order to get required 35 PDUs.
