Panadol is a painkiller medicine that is used for treating mild to moderate pain in adults and children. It is reliable for relieving pain in various body aches and pains including the following conditions:

  • Headaches
  • Toothaches
  • Cold or flu
  • Fever
  • Menstrual periods
  • Backaches
  • Osteoarthritis

It is effective

The active ingredients in these tablets are the Paracetamol and dhydorcodeine. These have made Panadol a co-dydramol medicine. This painkiller works by influencing the activities of the natural body chemicals known as prostaglandins. These are chemicals released in the event of an injury or illness. Paracetamol is known to prevent the production of prostaglandins thus making human body less sensitive or aware to the pain resulting from an injury.

Panadol affects the hypothalamus, a brain part that controls body temperatures, thus cooling off the body during fever among other conditions. The medicine contains codeine, an opioid, thus making it effective in controlling pain in the body. These drugs imitate the endorphins- naturally occurring chemicals in the spinal cord and brain- thus combining with the opioid receptors to reduce pain.

Before taking the painkillers

Not everyone is medically suited to take these medicines. In some conditions, the medication could be unsuited for you thus causing serious unwanted effects if not carefully used. Kiwi Drug advises all patients to consult with their prescribers on the outright prescriptions so as to gain from the treatment.

To be certain if this treatment's suitability, it is recommended that you discuss with the doctor on the following conditions:

  • If you have diabetes
  • In case of any liver or kidney disorders
  • In case of a drinking history
  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
