Lubricants are used to reduce friction between two moving surfaces. They are, as the name suggests, used to reduce friction and transport foreign particles. Lubricants reduce wear and tear of surfaces reducing the metal contact between the rubbing surfaces. They help in reducing the destruction of metal due to expansion by frictional heat. They also act as coolant of the metal and avoid unsmooth relative motion. Moreover, they reduce the power loss in combustion engines. Hence, a good lubricant should have all the following characteristics:

  • High boiling point and low freezing point
  • High viscosity
  • Hydraulic stability
  • Thermal stability
  • Corrosion prevention
  • Resistance to oxidation

Features Of Industrial Automotive Lubricants:

  • Viscosity: Different lubricants behave differently at high and low temperatures. The effect of the oil or the lubricant is characterized with its viscosity, oil film thickness and flow resistance. The viscosity of the oil also varies at different temperatures. The higher the temperature, more fluid the oil would be. Also, the viscosity of the oil would be lower. Hence, it is very important that the oil is able to retain its viscosity in different heat conditions letting the engine perform at its best. Also, it must stay fluid in cold temperature to allow the engine to start and stay viscous in hot temperature to prevent the various moving parts from coming in contact with each other.
  • Grade: The lubricants come in different grades, which characterize their viscosity at high and low temperature. Most commonly the grades are made with two numbers and between the two numbers, there is letter W that characterizes the winter grade. The first numbers indicate the viscosity of the lubricant at cold temperature measured at various temperatures, while the last numbers indicate viscosity at hot temperatures, usually measured at about 100°C.
  • Characteristics: Based on the characteristics, there are two types of lubricants: Fuel Economy Lubricants and Low SAPS Lubricants. The Fuel Economy Lubricants have a special formula, which help in saving the fuel in opposition to the conventional oil that offers the same level of performance. It is mostly found with the engine oil and relates to the transmission oil of gear boxes and axles. The Low SAPS lubricants contain low levels of sulphated ash, sulphur and phosphorus. This technology depollutes the system fitted to most of the engines.

The service life, functioning and reliability of any drive system is largely dependent upon the Industrial Automotive Lubricants and oil employed. With good lubrication, the maintenance costs are also reduced. Hence, choose a reliable Wholesale Lubricant Exporter In India to get the best quality lubricant.
