We have officially entered the 6 months countdown for Magento 1 EOL. Magneto first announced they would not support updates to their Magento 1 back in September 2018. They set June 2020 as the date for the end of life of Magento 1. The date of the EOL is quite near now. EOL doesn’t mean that your tore will disappear altogether, but the results can be problematic.

If you want to grow your business smoothly without any hassle, it’s time to leave Magento 1 as soon as you can. June is not as far as it seems right now. You are already running out of time.

Whether you move your Magento 1 store to Magento 2 or any other eCommerce platform provider, you will have to undergo a full platform, and that is certainly going to take a lot of time.

There are some big reasons why you need to switch from Magneto 1 to some other platform as soon as possible.

Let us have a look at some reasons why Magneto 1 end of life matters. Your store will be at risk

After June 2020, your Magento1 site will no longer support the security updates. Magento will stop producing any security patches for Magento 1, and therefore, you will not be able to receive any security updates.

Having no security leaves the site vulnerable to hackers and threats, which could lead to loss of reputation and trust from which the business may not recover.

Regular updates will take longer time

After the end of the life of Magento 1, it will be harder to find developer support to have routine updates. Updates that used to be simple may become impossible after the end of life of Magento 1.

How will be the life on Magento 1 after June 2020?

You might be thinking about what life on Magento will be after June 2020. We will clear this out for you. Let’s see what life will be like for your store in the days after Magento EOL.

Nothing changes overnight. You will see that your site will still function. The real trouble will come after a few days. Earlier, Magento 1 had actively search for vulnerabilities and creating security patches, but after EOL, they will stop supporting the security patches. You might lose your customer data as the hackers will be looking for vulnerable sites on Magento 1 as soon as the EOL happens.

Losing customer data is a threat when you fail to keep the site secure. Sites that are not PCI compliant are at the risk of losing customer records. This will continue until PCI is reestablished.

As there are not going to be any more updates in Magneto 1, your updates will have to wait for a long time. You can’t even make changes in your product listings, and then you will regret not switching to some other platform when there was still time.

How will Magento 1 to Magento 2 Migration help you?

Switching your Magento 1 store to Magento 2 is the best option for your business.

  • Page loads in Magento 2 are 30 to 50% faster
  • Magento 2 can manage more products than Magento 1 giving more choice to the customers
  • Magento 2 will provide improved performance and scalability
  • Magento 2 will have enhanced security
  • Magento 2 has improved checkout process
  • Begin the process now and start upgrading to make sure you have enough time to switch from Magento 1 to Magento 2.

    Conclusion

You might think you have enough time to switch your Magento 1 to another platform, but it’s nearer than you think. The sooner you plan the process, the better. With a well-thought plan, the EOL of Magento 1 will be smooth. There is nothing to panic about; however, it is better to start preparing for the future without Magento 1. If you plan thoroughly with enough time, you will be able to schedule the replatform your Magento 1 to a new platform, either the Magento 2 platform or another.

Hire the trusted Magento development company for the replatform because you don’t want to take any chances. Hire Magento developers and begin the replatform process soon.

Hi thanks, Are you sure that you are comparing Magento 1,2? Since M2 has a terrible performance rather than ME Specifically for those clients who have multiple website and store view. You could see it on MySQL query log. So it's not as easy as you mentioned!
