When Even The Best Wireless Doorbell Malfunctions

Wireless doorbells are constructed to make life more convenient and simple and usually do just that. However, like any other device, even the best wireless doorbell can prove insufficient at times. Luckily, it is usually something minor that can be fixed without needing to buy new parts. Repairing a malfunctioned wireless doorbell can be done without hiring a repairman if the following steps are utilized.

First, pry off the cover of the transmitter with a screwdriver, or simply remove the screws. Replace the batteries of both the receiver and the transmitter, and replace the cover and screws.

If the doorbell is fairly new, it is most often just a case of a dead battery. Now, push the button on the transmitter, and if there still is no signal, continue to the next step.

The transmitter and receiver have to be set on the same frequency to work properly. The frequency can be adjusted by using a pair of pliers and simply moving the jumpers, which are usually located close to the battery.

Once the frequencies are the same, replace the cover and screws and push the button on the button-unit. If resetting the frequencies did not do the trick, move forward and try another option.

From the wall, detach the chime and, if possible, move it closer to the button-unit. If the chime works after being detached from the wall, it is possible that something metal was keeping it from working properly. Metal can cause signals to be lost and disrupt the function of even the best wireless doorbell. Sometimes placing wood between the chimes and the metal can help the signal to be received properly.

If there is a cement or concrete floor beneath the chime, raise the chime up higher on the wall to allow a better-transmitted signal.

Concrete can affect both the transmitting and receiving of a signal, and cause a doorbell to severely malfunction. If this is what is causing the problem, the chime will have to be moved as far away as possible from the concrete.

Fixing a wireless doorbell is easy, even for a beginner who has no previous experience.

Sometimes even the best wireless doorbell will need mending, as does everything, and knowing how to tackle the job will make the experience go more smoothly. Home repair does not have to involve a lot of time and money and can be done with the homeowner's own two hands.
