Mount Carmel College, [MCC] Bangalore is a premier institution for women’s education in India. Established in 1944 it is run by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa. The institution has stood the test of time which is reflected in its dynamism and energy and has been awarded Five Stars by NAAC. The Institute empowers students through value-based, quality, and integral education to empower others especially the socially and economically marginalized and create a ‘Civilization of Love’.

The institute stands to meet the increasing demand for the education of women. The institute carries the objective to empower women by giving them all the required education to increase their value and enhance them in all the fields of education. The College is a minority institution that mainly runs for Catholic Students, and it gives place to all the candidates despite any caste and creeds. They take inspiration from the person and the teachings of Jesus Christ, Universal Master, and Model of Education. The institute also tries to promote holistic development. The college has begun the Center for Extended Education (CEE) in order to tackle the challenges of education and to empower the students holistically. The College initiated CEE to offer skill-based credit programs.

MCC has collaborations with International Universities for academic twinning and faculty exchange programs. The College offers UG, PG courses in Management and Commerce, Humanity, Science, Home Science, and M.Sc in Tourism Management along with Binary University, Malaysia. Students can pursue the first year of the program at MCC and then proceed to Binary University for the second year to complete the course. The college has established an Institute for Management Studies to provide women students the education of management. There are several programs that are sponsored by UGC, the college has received funding from UGC for development of UG and PG courses, the establishment of the college, construction of girls hostel, coaching classes for the students, etc. UGC sponsored career-oriented courses like diploma or certificate in event management and interior designing; clinical nutrition and dietetics.

In 2000 the Total Quality Management was established by the college with the objective of increasing and sustaining quality standards in the institution. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell is engaged in maintaining and encouraging women empowerment, holistic education, social, and environmental changes for a good cause.
